Who are we ?
Two founding team members with a combination of Art and Science !
Ganesh Subramanian, Founder and CEO, is from the world of Art, ex COO Myntra,
who has seen the fashion business across various axes, from the supply side to
demand side across all channels including online. He enabled Indian and
International brands and retailers build supply chain, powerful brands and took
start-ups to market leading position. He has also created world’s first Artificial
Intelligence led fashion brand. He believes in solving real world problems using
technology. [He was awarded as 25 Top e Commerce professionals of India 2015, by
Asia Retail Congress]
Ram Prakash H, Co-founder and Chief Scientist, is from the world of science, an IIT
Madras Computer Science engineer working on Machine learning and Artificial
Intelligence for the last 15 years. He is also the creator of Quillpad, the first of its
kind machine learning based language input for Indianlanguages. He is a Math lover
who enjoys solving complex multi dimensional problems using AI, Machine learning
and computer vision. [He was listed as one of the top 20 India innovators by MIT
TR35, 2010].
What are we upto?
Fashion business is one of the most challenging businesses to operate. Long lead
times and short product life cycles compound the complexity of the business. Many
decisions are made for the future and the current with minimal available data and a
fair amount of judgement.
Having worked in the trenches for many years in the industry, we started out by
asking this question: can machines jump in here with more reliable, data-driven and
actionable suggestions to help design professionals and consumers alike, in realtime?
The answer to this is what we are chasing at Stylumia. We are applying the
advances in AI and computer vision to model, analyse and derive actionable
intelligence from the unstructured data sources. The intelligence of our models
would be derived from data sources like images, user behavior data, textual
descriptions on social media or implicit signals to be mined from the retail sites: all
by using machine learning approaches.
Having chosen this direction, we are out to enable the fashion and lifestyle
professionals across the globe in making laser edge informed decisions for current
course corrections and future directions.
When are we launching?
We have launched our alpha version and is active across 20 of our clients. Our clients
cut across International brands, offline and online retailers. We are in collaborative
development phase. Very encouraging response.
Who would benefit from the product?
All producers, brands, retailers and influencers of fashion & lifestyle industry and of
course consumers. Stylumia in essence helps them to make more revenue,
increases margins and generates cash out of the system.
Where are we launching?
We are solving a problem with a global context. Started with India, just finalised an
international client and will be going global soon.
Why do we exist?
As a fashion professional, I have struggled with the following questions and my
industry colleagues echo similar sentiments.
1. What to observe/spot in terms of trends/inspirations?
2. What products/medium to choose for my brand / business?
3. How much to buy?
4. Where to place the products/marketing efforts?
5. When to place the products/marketing efforts?
6. What should we react on and what to leave by?
These are some of the questions every fashion and lifestyle professional goes
through every day. With dynamic change in consumer preferences, if there is an
intelligent tool, that could answer all or some of these questions, it would be a great
enabler.
We believe technology can be that great enabler to manage this complexity, and
make it a bit easier and render the business more productive.
How are we approaching this?
Deeply understand the fashion business and its nuances by product, brand,
consumer, and channel.
Armed with this knowledge, we are applying the advances in AI (artificial
intelligence) and computer vision to model, analyse and derive actionable
intelligence from the unstructured data mined from various explicit and implicit
sources. Machine learning approaches will further create a learning engine
delivering higher precision in predictions over time.
