BABA’S ALL-PERVASIVENESS
In the beginning, Baba was called a mad fakir, later Hakim, Sadhu/Saint or Sufi Saint and then God. Baba was a unique saint in that He was taking care of his devotees and also simultaneously bringing the evil doers to the right path by reforming them. He did not remain in solitude far away from the people and was not meditating for His benefit. He had no home, no relations and begged food not only for Him but also for others. Baba had pervaded in all creatures and living beings.

While sitting in the masjid, He took different rupas and visited several distant places to fulfill His promises given to the devotees and also protected and helped them. He was Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent. He did not give any sermons, or mantra or upadesha.. What He wanted was pure devotion and unflinching or unswerving faith in God. He allowed all people to follow their own religion and faith but advised them all to have faith in God. Baba was against religious syncretism and insularism. While sitting in the masjid, Baba gave darshan to several devotees appearing in the form of their beloved deities ...
... or as saints of their choice whom they liked most. While sitting in the masjid, Baba also appeared and gave darshan at far off places to several devotees in the shape of several Gods, Saints whom the devotees liked most. Baba was the embodiment of different Gods as He was a perfect Satguru and all Gods are subsumed in a Sadguru. And it is for this reason only that Baba appeared in the forms of various Gods to different devotees when they visited Shirdi for Baba’s darshan. Based on this view, while praying to Baba also, it has become the practice to address Baba as "Sri Ramakrishna Sri Maruthyaadhi Rupaayanamah", meaning Baba as "embodiment of, and representing Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Lord Hanuman and other Gods".

Based on the diary notes Dixit made, which were published later, Baba narrated a parable when Dabholkar, Dixit and others were present, explaining the need to have a guide (Guru) to safely reach from a thick forest, without any danger from wild animals, to our destination. Baba also said that guide (Guru) was necessary for the people to improve their lives happily and to achieve spiritual pursuit; as the path was really tough and in this way Baba cleared Dabholkar's doubts on the necessity to have a Guru. This had greatly convinced Dabholkar about the need to have a Guru. One should have a Guru to achieve progress, temporal and spiritual.

While sitting in the masjid, Baba used to say, “I am not in Shirdi”. He was able to do several things simultaneously with His invisible body and He could also take any form any time, move any where and do several things simultaneously. That was the significance of His statement, reading “I am not in Shirdi”. He was inside of every object, animate or inanimate and could control voluntary and involuntary movements of all creatures and objects and could change for better the line of thinking in the minds of people.

While He was in the masjid, He was aware of and observing the developments that were taking place about His devotees who were far away and was protecting them against dangers, He was also aware of the thoughts in the minds and the movements of the devotees at all places, far or near with a view to protect them in the event of any danger. It was Baba’s ever watchfulness over His devotees that was protecting them always. There was/is nothing that Baba did/does not know. There were many instances to show all these events, but for the sake of brevity, they are not stated here. He knew the minds of all the people--devotees or other persons and the thoughts that were crossing in their minds. When any person doubting about the all pervasiveness of Baba and without having full faith in Baba, was visiting Baba in the masjid, Baba instantaneously was knowing the thinking in that person’s mind and immediately was uttering something specifically to him as a repartee, clearing his doubts by way of suitable response and the visitor immediately would get wonder-struck and was forced to understand the all-pervasiveness of Baba, making him immediately fall on Baba’s feet and would get converted into a staunch devotee forthwith. A plethora of such instances were there for being narrated but again to make this concise, the specific instances are not narrated here. Baba knew the past, present and future. He was considered a living God, a talking God and a walking God when he was in Shirdi and even now He is considered as God talking to the devotees in dreams and helping them. Baba is a God who is talking to devotees when simply called upon, of course, with unflinching devotion.. He appeared in the dreams of the devotees who were near and also at remote places and guided them in tiding over the problems they were facing at that time. He had myriad ways of helping the devotees. He had full control over the Pancha-Maha-Bhute (five elements constituting the entire universe) and knew the future course of events and mould them, concerning the devotees.

Once Baba was taking meals with other members in the masjid, suddenly the ceiling started cracking and was about to fall. Then Baba bawled out “Stop” and it had stopped and after finishing their meals and after having removed all the articles from the masjid, then the ceiling fell and came down on the floor. Baba also stopped on several occasions the torrential rain, pouring ceaselessly with severe winds to enable the devotees from the masjid to safely reach their destinations. If anybody thinks that Baba was confined to three and a half cubits (over six feet) of his physical body, he is thoroughly mistaken and definitely wrong. Baba pervades the entire creation of universe and knows the innermost thoughts of any body, near or far away and everything everywhere is known to Him. Baba manifested Himself in the form of several Gods before the devotees concerned and this proves beyond doubt that He is Almighty God. Baba’s expositions on several occasions confirmed about the unity of all the religions. Baba’s Arati song was modeled on the lines Pandharpur pooja song and composed by Madhav Adkar and the Arati song so composed was once carried at the instance of Baba by Bapugir Ramgir to Nanasaheb Chandorkar for approval and correction, if any and this had happened around 1900. Bapurao Chandorkar, second son of Nanasaheb Chandorkar was the first person at the age of 4 years to apply sandal paste to Baba’s forehead and also offered flowers to Baba by placing them on Baba’s head and started doing pooja to Baba and this happened in the year 1908 and he was the first person to do pooja to Baba and it became a practice since then. Around that time, all the devotees worshipped Baba individually with that Arati song and there was no congregational worship of Baba at that time.. From 1904 onwards, 3 times araties were started daily for Baba in the Dwarakamai and congregational worship for Baba was started later when Megha came to Shirdi and Megha became the first pujari of Baba.
