The introduction: Before starting the course, the student will be explained what is MS Access and how it may help the user in designing databases and application. All the theoretical session will be completed in this module that includes how access can work with other office program such as Microsoft SQL server and Oracle data engine. The student will also learn how to open a database, add, edit and delete records in the table and forms, open and run a query and a report and closing down access.

Creating and working with database: In this session, the student will really pick up the pace in explaining what the database is and how to work with different forms of database. The student will understand primary keys, data types, creating the database, table, query, form, using a form Wizard and creating reports using report wizard. You will be taught about data types, naming tables and Fields and other related aspects.

Finding, filtering and formatting the data: In the next session, the teachers will teach the student how to find and replace any information, sorting and filtering the records, adjusting and rearranging the rows and columns, freezing the fields and hiding the columns. This is a very short session, but do provides very important access skills that any access operator must know. They will also learn how to export data from access in Excel in a couple of clicks and how to analyze data results from over 67000 rows and columns.

Dealing with tables and Fields: Now comes the part, where the student will understand field properties, indexing the field, changing the field data type, applying formats to number and text fields, creating input masks and modifying lookup fields, creating value list and setting default values along with applying field validation.

Creating relational databases: After all the theoretical knowledge and understanding each and every aspect of the tool, the student will understand table relationships, creating relationships between different tables, understanding referential integrity, understanding relationship types and implementing and testing referential integrity.

Task automation with macros: In this session, the student will learn how to record macros in order to automate repetitive tasks. The main skills learned in this session are understanding VBA and macros, creating a macro, running a macro, modifying a macro, interacting with the user, documentation of the Macro along with other macros techniques such as using different conditions, creating sequences of condition and many more.

Where will the student be at the end of the course?

Once the course is finished, the candidate will be able to export and import records from various sources and applications, creating queries based on different tables, creating and calculating queries, modifying and adapting forms according to the needs, creating and using macros, building and working with programming codes using VBA and designing a relational database project.

What are the prerequisites of the course?

The student must have cleared his 12th or graduation. A good understanding of MS Office and access would be recommended, but it is not mandatory.
