Buy smaller pans – It is always better to use smaller pans (cupcake cups and muffin cups) as they are much more rigid and do not bend easily while putting in or taking out of an oven. These are less expensive, easier to find and much more versatile as compared to the larger ones.
Check out for the presence of fillers – Few silicone products may contain fillers, presence of which can be checked by pinching or pulling the moulds. If fillers are present, it will turn white. Just don’t buy them.
Check the recommended temperature – Though the silicone moulds can withstand a temperature up to 360 degrees Celsius, it is always advisable to check the temperature that is recommended for your specific baking moulds before putting them inside the oven.
Use hot pads – Silicone moulds become very hot in the oven and it’s not safe to remove them from the oven with bare hands. Use a hot pad instead.
Grease larger pans – Greasing and dusting is normally not required in silicone moulds but doing this gives amazing results particularly in larger pans as the cakes baked in them are more likely to crack.
Greasing them makes cleaning easy – Greasing the pans makes it easier to clean them. So, it is better that you grease them not only for taking out the cake easily but also to clean it effortlessly.
Make use of oven tray – As the silicone moulds are very flexible, taking them out of an oven is a challenging task. Always use an oven tray for keeping them in the oven as taking them out becomes easier with its help.
Avoid using sharp objects – Do not use sharp objects like knives on your moulds as they can damage your pans and can spoil all the fun.
Use them for serving as well – While hosting a party at your home, you can use these moulds for serving small snacks in them, thanks to their cute shapes and bright colors.
Use soapy water to cleanse – To cleanse them efficiently, you should soak them in warm soapy water immediately after use and later wipe them gently to remove some residual grease.
