Preparing For A Property Assessment Of Your Home

If you have finally decided to refinance or to sell your home you know for sure that there will be an appraisal. As such, it may be a good idea to start preparing your home for the same. 1. Safety Equipment – It is important to make sure that this has been installed and is in good working order. This includes things like a smoke alarm, home security system, and a carbon monoxide alarm among others.

2. Critique the home –It is important to put yourself in the shoes of the appraiser and look at your home critically. Begin to look for the kind of damage that could reduce the value of your home. Check for any loose boards on the floor, a leaking roof, gutters that are not working right and more. It is these things that will give the appraiser the view that you take proper care of the house.

3. Home Improvements – If you have made any home improvements in the past, it is a good idea to list them down showing what you took out and the additions or improvements made. It could include kitchen remodelling, HVAC units, gutters, bathroom remodelling, siding or even putting in a new roof. This will reflect positively on the real estate appraisal Vancouver.

4. Spruce it up – There are a few things here and there that may not necessarily affect the overall appraisal too much, but they still make a difference. They include repainting the walls, putting in new faucets and doorknobs especially if the ones you have in place look old and worn out. They will make your home look updated and modern.

5. Clean – A clean home definitely looks a lot more attractive to buyers and appraisers. Go all out and shampoo your carpet, clean the walls, de-clutter, power wash your driveway, decks and even the siding of your home.

6. Do some yard work – It is a good idea to ensure that your yard does not look unkempt. Trim the shrubbery and trees and be sure to more your lawn. De-clutter your yard and plant some flowers to add a splash of colour.
