Four Important Tips To Taking A Series 24 Exam
Total Articles: 7
Whether you’re confident in your abilities to do well on a Series 24 exam or are apprehensive about your chances, the truth is everyone who takes an exam needs to think about how they perform as best as they can. In addition to studying the material, you need to know ways to condition your mind and avoid pitfalls in taking the exam, as well as possible solutions to vexing problems. Here are four ways you can make that happen.
1. Read the Question Completely
A lot of exam takers will actually skim a question rather than reading it fully from start to finish. This is because certain terms and information will leap out at us. However, this can lead to mistakes taking the test. For example, you may skip over important terms that could qualify the question, such as “not” or “except.” You could inadvertently pick the answer opposite of what the question is looking for. Pay close attention to the last sentence of the question. This will lay out the problem the question wants you to solve. Then, be sure to read through the answers. You want to pick the best, most complete answer, even if another answer may seem basically correct to you.
2. Process of Elimination
Let’s say you come across a question on your Series 24 exam and are just stumped. None of the answers look right to you, or perhaps the answers don’t seem right enough. If you have problems picking the correct answer, use process of elimination. Look for those answers that you know cannot be right and mentally mark them as unacceptable. That shrinks your universe of possible answers and increases your odds of picking the correct choice. Even eliminating just one answer can be very helpful.
3. Don’t Doubt Yourself
You choose an answer, but perhaps you’re not sure about it and want to change it. This is actually not a good idea. If you have read the question completely from start to finish, used proper judgment on the answers and made a choice, letting doubt creep in is a mistake. In many cases, changing an answer after the fact actually results in the wrong answer. Stopping and mulling over an already chosen answer can also cost you time on other answers. If you’ve performed your Series 24 exam prep properly for the exam, have faith in your answers.
4. Do What You Know First
Often times, exam takers will be strongly certain about some questions and answer them quickly, while other questions require a bit of thought. This can make taking the exam an awkward case of stop and go. To sharpen your mind and keep the mental train going, go ahead and answer the questions you are absolutely sure about first. They may all have some close similarity that will allow you to effortlessly jump from one question to the next. Then, go back to the other questions and answer those.
Taking a Series 24 exam is not an easy feat, even for those who are good exam takers. But having these important tips in mind will increase your chances of passing and making the actual test taking experience less stressful.
