Dedicated Vs VPS Server: Know the Difference
Over the years dedicated and the Virtual Private Server (VPS) have become popular modes of web hosting. These two names are quite well known to everyone who is accustomed to hosting services. But have you actually thought about the differences between them? Well, give it a read to find that out.

What is meant by VPS and Dedicated servers?
Virtual Private Server which is often abbreviated as VPS has become highly popular since the beginning due to the multitude of things that it offers. VPS server is known for its extraordinary performance and superior control at a very reasonable price. VPS allows you to share your physical resources over a physical server although their allocation was solely made for you thus giving you an opportunity to enjoy a full scale private server. Basically, VPS provides you with power as well as the control along with the boon of scalability.

On the other hand, the dedicated server is actually a physical one which is meant for your solo use only. Unlike the VPS, dedicated server prevents any third party activities from interfering ...
... with your services thus making it isolated for your sole usage.

What are the differences between VPS and Dedicated servers?
To exactly understand the differences between the VPS and dedicated servers, we must need to take several factors into account.
1. Reliability and Management
VPS server is very much reliable because the data is stored across a sheer number of physical servers in the cloud whereas in case of dedicated servers to achieve such reliability it requires additional hardware applications like hard disks and RAID cards which offer dual power supply as well as capability. But the problem with that is it makes the server physically very large and monetarily very expensive.
2. Scalability
VPS server is highly scalable which requires almost no downtime to upgrade its server requirements. But the dedicated servers, when compared to the VPS, do not provide such scalability and if you want to reduce its downtime then you will have to upgrade its hardware specifications.
3. Security
Dedicated servers are more secure physically than the VPS servers since you are the only user using it. But this fact does not nullify the need for vigilance and protection.
4. Cost
Dedicated servers are generally costlier than the VPS.
