Five Stages Of Team Development

There are five different stages that a certain team will be going through while achieving a team work. The period of transition depends on the ability and qualities of each member of the team. The leadership skill is also another factor for a successful transition.
Developing a team requires time and effort to achieve it successfully. With the help of team building activities, you can build a good team at a faster pace. This will encourage and help to motivate the employees, which will be the participants in such an event. At the end of the event, you will notice a substantial change in how they behave as a team. Let’s have a look at these five stages to understand how these activities work:
1. Getting to know each other
This is the first and the most crucial stage of team building development. Initially, the participants are grouped. It will be a deal, if each member of the team is coming from the different departments to establish a group that is away from their comfort zone. 2. Conflict may occur
This is a common scenario for every team. The team building development through a team building activity depicts what happens in the real working environment. At first, the members create competence to attract other members. The patience and tolerance is tested. In this stage, the members learn that a proper communication can prevent miscommunication.
3. Support system
This stage is the beginning of a good teamwork which is manifested by a good support system. Each member of the group contributes and makes effort to achieve the goals. The group together builds a good relationship among themselves. In this stage, the members learn to trust capability and capacity of one another which leads to a positive team attitude.
4. Developing of plans and strategy
The fourth stage involves an exemplary effort among members. The members learn from one another, and they can develop a strategy that they can use when they are working together as a team. They share knowledge and as a result, lead to a positive attitude. In this stage, the members help one another to accomplish the task. This kind of attitude can be carried to the working environment which serves the team building objective successfully.
5. The finale
This stage will be a stage of recognition and appreciation of the individual and team efforts. When the task is accomplished, the team would usually rejoice for it. The members of the team reflect on the qualities that change because of the challenging task. This stage also helps the participants realise about their flaws and inspire them to become a better individual.
Every team has a stage that is expected to overcome. The team that succeeds in overcoming the team issues and solving the team problem is sure to succeed in the real test of times as well. This is manifested in a team building activity wherein the team effort is seen as the best asset in achieving the goals.
