Marriage is one of the most significant social institutions. It has evolved historically with great amount of rituals surrounding them. The strongest reason people have been observing wedding ceremony with great interest is because they believe marriage has something to do with divinity. People love to believe that weddings are not something that a human can do without the consent of the Lord. Instead, the Lord himself has fixed the couples for eternity. The bond has various cultural intonations blended within it. As a result people from all religions consider marriage a sacred act, and thus, celebrate it with utmost enjoyment. India, being a country where spiritual philosophies found their roots, has been a home to various different types of wedding rituals. Kerala Matrimony is one of them. Let us discuss about the weddings of Kerala.
Kerala is a part of India with majority of Hindu population. That is why wedding rituals are performed in accordance with Hindu matrimonial laws. However, wedding rituals are somewhat different than other parts of India where Hindu matrimonial laws are also followed by people. However, ...
... people in Kerala are mostly from Nair community. It is a community that belongs to a certain class on the lower end of Hindu cast system. Nair people do not marry their children off outside their community. They usually choose brides and grooms from their own community. This is done to keep their blood line pure. This is also part of their creed. It also helps the bride and groom adjust smoothly after the marriage. The communal way of life can be hard to follow by outsiders.
However, there are several stages of the marriage. The first stage is called Nirapara. It is placed in a certain position where wedding takes place. Nirapara signifies a full measure. Kerala people use a wooden box in order to weigh a certain amount of paddy. The paddy here is known as para. It is then mixed with paddy and coconut tree flower.
The next stage is Nilavilakku which is actually a huge lamp made with brass. A cup is put on its top. They fill the cup with oil and a wick for lighting purposes. The cup I lit in order to receive blessings from the God who has control over fire.
Then comes Thali Tying part. This is the moment when Kerala bride ties yellow string with a pendant that is shaped as banyan leaf on bride’s neck.
The next part is called Pudava Koda. This is also known as the original ceremony of Kerala matrimony. At this stage the bride goes to the bride’s house accompanied by his close relatives and family members. He presents the bride a Pudava in the presence of all the people. This action is considered the most sacred and it binds the both for a lifetime.
Kerala matrimony sites place a big role in arranging such wedding ceremonies. They are internet websites where people book their programs. This is why Kerala matrimony sites fall into the event management category. But their services are very trustworthy and stress free. This is because the anxiety level during the marriage process causes much stress level rise experienced by the members of the family and others go under the responsibility. Not everyone is good at everything. That is why people need specialists.
People nowadays are heavily depended on the internet. Kerala wedding sites play an important role in the society because people now do not have to visit the bride to see her physically. This also helps to reduce the stress. Since these sites have various connections, people find it an easier option for choosing their life partner using them.
