Having your pet spayed and neutered is an extremely wise decision. Both dogs and cats reproduce at high rates and if they are not sprayed or neutered, you can be left with a lot of animals to take care of. Despite common beliefs, the recovery process is quick, it is not dangerous or harmful to their health and your pet will be back to their normal selves within a week.

What It Means to Be Spayed or Neutered

Male dogs and cats are neutered. Neutering is the removal of a male testacle. This stops overpopulation by removing what a male needs to reproduce. Females, on the other hand, are spayed. This means the ovaries and uterus are removed from the female. Having these parts removed from either your dog or cat will eliminate the possibility of having to deal with the offspring you pets will have if they are not taken care of. Also, you don’t have to worry about your pets being hurt because the recovery process is quick.

Your Pets Behavior and the Dangers

There are a lot beliefs, some true and others false, when it comes to being spayed and neutered. One of these beliefs is that your pet’s behavior ...
... will be drastically altered. This one is true. but it is a great thing! Not only will males become less aggressive, but females will no longer pace when it’s hot out. Another belief is that spaying and neutering will be harmful or dangerous to your pet’s well-being. This is not true, and the recovery from the procedure is fast. Your cat or dog will be back to their normal selves within a week.

Their Playfulness Will Remain

You may be afraid that your pet will become less enthusiastic and playful or even that they will become lethargic. Luckily, this is a myth. As long as they continue to exercise, and you play with your pet on a regular basis, they will continue to lead healthy lives! It is also comforting to know that your pet will not be emotionally effected by getting spayed or neutered. They do not have an emotional attachment to mating.

Cloning Pets is Not Possible (Unfortunately)

It is not uncommon for owners to want more of their pets that they love so much. However, it is important to keep in mind that just because your pet has offspring, it does not mean they will be the same because you cannot clone pets. Another common excuse for not having your cat or dog neutered and spayed is that it is too expensive. If you cannot afford the neutering or spaying, you will definitely not be able to afford an entire litter of animals.

There are a lot of beliefs and misconceptions when it comes to having your pets spayed and neutered. Despite common beliefs, the recovery process is quick and their playfulness and health will not be negatively affected. Additionally, it is wise to keep in mind that an unwanted litter will end up being far more expensive than having your pets spayed or neutered.
