Link building still remains one of the most important elements of SEO. In search engine optimization or SEO, link building could be considered as among few of the tactics that have evolved over the years. Link building now has become more quality-driven as well as refined compared to previous years ever since link building technique came in to existence. There is no doubt that link building has become more respectable and valuable.
Here are some of the major ways in which link building has changed.
Penalties
Google now penalize the websites that comes with spammy back link profiles and the website owners who try link schemes could end up facing a penalty for their website that will further drop their website from the SERPs. Even though recovery is possible, still it may take up several months or years for the website to regain the SERPs.
Spammy Links are no longer tolerated
Gone are the years when website owners could easily get away posting a spammy link pointing back to their domain as a forum post or an article in an article directory, but with Google’s latest algorithm, such tactics are no longer tolerated and Google would neutralize the value of the link if they detect a pattern of spammy links.
Additional links from same domain is no longer valuable
Links from different domains has more value compared to additional links from the same domain. This is because links that comes from different domains assures more credibility for the website whereas additional links from the same domain indicates more authority. Even though same domain links still have some value, it does not have the same appeal as it used to have during earlier years.
Increasing Popularity of Guest Posts
Guest Posts is publishing of an article on an external publication and it has become one among the most important standard of link building. The key aspect of guest posts is the availability of high quality content that is tailored to reach newer audiences and which has a far more value than simply SEO value. It has become one of the best off-site link-building tactics.
Content standard has become more important
None of the editors and webmasters is going to accept guest posts if they do not find quality content. This has led to increase in the quality of content and SEO professionals nowadays give more attention in generating quality content that complies with the content standards to get approval of their guest posts for such publications and thus helps in better link building process.
Conclusion
Press Releases are no more considered a popular link building tactic. Similarly keyword stuffing also will not work in giving more power to the inbound links. Keywords has to be naturally included if penalty has to be avoided from Google. In addition to helping the websites to rank better in the search engines, link building in SEO has more benefits namely brand visibility and referral traffic to name among a few.
