The word Cenosphere is the combination of two Greek words Kens (hollow) and Sphaira (sphere). Some amount of the Fly Ash conveyed from the ignition of coal in power stations is organized as cenospheres. Cenospheres are hollow ceramic microspheres found in fly ash, a natural by-product of coal combustion during the generation of electric power. Small and hollow, microspheres are used as fillers or functional extenders in the manufacture of paints, plastics, resins; light weight aggregates for cement, ceramics and other construction products. These are unfilled, hard-shelled, ultra low-thickness rounds, which structure novel free streaming powders. Cenospheres are a inert, lightweight, hollow sphere comprised largely of alumina & silica and filled with air and/or gases. It's also known as Hollow-Ceramic-Microspheres.
Cenospheres are hard and rigid, waterproof, light and in noxious. This makes them extremely important in a blended sack of things, unmistakably fillers. Cenospheres are in no time used as fillers as a piece of cement to convey low-thickness concrete. Starting late, a couple of makers have begun filling metals and polymers with cenospheres to make lightweight composite materials with higher quality than distinctive sorts of foam materials [citation needed]. Such composite materials are called syntactic foam. Aluminum-based syntactic froths are finding applications in the auto sector. Cenospheres is mostly used in the construction company. From roofing materials to stuccos and grouts, new applications and products continue to be developed. The quantity of Cenospheres used within the construction industry continues to grow today as more and more companies realize the advantages Cenospheres bring to their products. Cenospheres have been used in oilfield cementing for quite some time. During a cementing job, Cenospheres act to decrease the slurry density without increasing the water content. This in turn provides better compressive strength to the cement.
The mainly advantages of using cenosphere are-

Reduced raw material cost
Improved installation values
Reduced resin demand
Improved flow ability
Resistant to resin absorption
Reduced end product weight

Cenospheres are hollow ceramic microspheres found in fly ash, a natural by-product of coal combustion during the generation of electric power. Small and hollow, microsphere particles are used as fillers or functional extenders in the manufacture of plastics, paints, resins; light weight aggregates for cement, ceramics and other construction products. Because Cenospheres often replace mined materials, they can significantly lower production costs. Simultaneously, cenosphere can benefit finished product properties by increasing durability and better sound proofing. Too, as material recycled from fly ash, cenosphere are environmentally friendly and help to preserve natural virgin fillers.
As a portion of the fly ash generated in coal combustion, cenosphere are recycled from the waste stream. They are made up of inert silica, iron and alumina. The spherical shape of cenosphere improves flow ability in most applications and provides a more even distribution of the filler material. The natural properties of cenosphere make it possible to use them either in dry or wet slurry form. Cenospheres are special additives that both chemists and formulators in the paints and coatings industry are using to enhance their products. A sphere has the lowest surface area of any shape. As a result, these hollow ceramic microspheres reduce resin demand and increase volume loading capacity.
