Total Articles: 59
Nothing is going in the favour of Mumbai City FC in the second season of IPL! First season was a disaster for them. And they know that! Last year they finished at number 7. This year, if we see, they have not managed to register a win, out of three matches they played. In their first match this season, against FC Pune, who is looking in a very fine form, they lost by 3-1. Their second match was against Kerala Blasters in Kochi, in which they shared the points as none of the team was able were able to register a goal. In their third match, against Chennaiyin FC, which they played at their home ground, they again were defeated by 0-2. Despite of having some good players like, Forward Sunil Chhetri, Defenders Lalchhuanmawia Fanai and Sony Nerde and Midfielder Ashutosh Mehta and Andre Francisco Moritz, they are unable to register a win on the board. In their three matches so far, they have been able to score just one goal and conceded 5 goals. The lone goal by the team was scored by Ashutosh Mehta in the game against FC Pune City.
The team has so far, out of their three matches, played just one match at their home ground. Though they lost that one also, but they would definitely want to win atleast their home encounters. Two of their players, Mid-fielder Ashutosh Mehta and defender Sony Norde are looking in good form, but they failed to win any match for their team, till now. In fact in their first match FC :Pune City, Ashutosh Mehta got the award for the Fittest Player of the Match. In the second match, however the team did quite well. They neither scored any goal, nor conceded any. The match resulted in the goalless draw and both the teams shared points. In this match also, Mumbai's players like, Sony Norde, Gabriel Fernandes, Singam Subash Singh, Haitian and Ashutosh Mehta, were looking in sublime form. There were a lot of expectations from their third match against Chennaiyin FC which they played at their home ground. They lost this match but according to experts, this was one of their better performances so far. They had 12 attempts on goal and 54 percent possession.
Although, it is too early to judge Nicolas Anelka's side, but the team desperately need a win now, to boast their confidence up in the tournament.
