In the market, you will find various kinds of ski racks. They come in a variety of brands, styles and prices. While some of these carry skis in a vertical position, some carry them in a horizontal manner. There are also some ski racks which can carry not only skis but also snowboards.

If you are looking for a rack meant for only ski, you will not be disappointed. Whatever may be your preference, there are certain things you need to keep in your mind to position your ski properly in ski rack.
The first thing you need to do is to identify the options which exist for your vehicle. Each vehicle has its own options. Though in almost all cars, there is accommodation for a roof rack, there are exceptional cases as well. For instance, if you have a convertible sports car then you will not be able to carry skis on the roof of the car. However, in many cases it has been seen that you can keep rack on the trunk lid of these cars.

You have to choose the rack that fits your gear best. In case you have to travel with snowboards, your purpose will not be served only by buying a ski-only rack. In case you are travelling with five to six skis, you have to make sure that your rack is not built for four skis.

Once you have chosen the rack, you have to mount your skis in a very secure manner. Putting skis securely means ensuring that all locking mechanisms and clasps are tightly closed. It is completely your personal matter if you want to put your skis facing up or facing down, forward or backward. You have to space racks quite far enough apart so that the ski or snowboard is divided roughly into thirds by the rack. If the racks are too far apart or too close together, the ski may not be held tightly enough to prevent it from shifting while the vehicle is in motion. You have to put skis in a rack very closely together side-by-side. This is a trick to let the skis support each other during transport from shifting. After this, you have to position the skis toward the center of the vehicle roof, rather than to the side.

Among the several racks available in today’s market, Ski-doo Ski rack has earned a name for itself. These are light weight racks which carry your skis in a protective manner.

Port Tack Rack is possibly the best option for skis which are just out. Hold your entire set of skis to a snowmobile in a perfect manner. You can check out these racks online before you make your final call.

Whatever may be your personal choice, you should always make sure to buy it from brand which has established itself as a trusted name in the market. A good brand ensures better quality products with a longer life. Be a true ski-lover and maintain your skis by buying the best carrier for it.
