The AeroPress is taking its victory rounds online and in real stores online. AeroPress coffee maker is the cheap and cheerful device that has a cult following among those in the know.It is a recent innovation, and works similar to an espresso machine. As it has a shorter brew time and typically uses a paper filter, you would not find some of the harsher oils and chemicals in a coffee that you’d get from French press.

Why AeroPress?

The AeroPress coffee tastes better as the ground coffee is fully immersed in the hot water, resulting in quick and extensive extraction of the flavor compounds. This brewing method shortens the brew time to 20-40 seconds, which avoids the unpleasant bitterness done in case of slower methods.

As well, the acid level of AeroPress brew is much lesser as compared to conventional methods, due to the shorter brew time. In fact, laboratory testing measured AeroPress coffee is found to be having under one fifth of the acid generated by regular drip coffee makers. As a result, coffee lovers are delighted by the fact that AeroPress brew is soothing to their stomachs.

When it ...
... comes to brewing coffee with AeroPress Coffee Maker, there are two main methods. The first method is described as the regular top down straight-forward brewing method.
The second method is known as the inverted or upside down brewing method, which is highlighted in this article.

Upside down Brewing Method

However, both the methods of AeroPress brewing are best, but we’ll explain the use of inverted method exclusively. Not because it seems cool or tastes better, but because the standard brewing method can sometimes leak before the brewing process is complete. Here are a few tips in order to reduce the chance that your standard AeroPress brew will leak.

• Wet the paper filter
• Ensure that the paper filter isn’t folded and is placed evenly in the filter cap
• Make sure that the seal is tight
• Use the funnel provided with the AeroPress so that loose grounds don’t find their way into where the filter is sealed
• The grind should not be too coarse
• Using a larger cup reduces the chance of leakage
The only way to mess up the inverted method is to lose control during the flip. There is still a c chance of leaking with the inverted method, but it doesn’t matters since it happens at the end of the brewing period when the coffee is ready to exit the brewing chamber.

Many Variations Work

The AeroPress coffee maker was invented in 2005, which makes it super young when it comes to coffee brewing methods. Since then there has been a great interest by coffee professionals to improve upon the instructions Aerobie ships with each unit.
Today, when you search for winning recipes, you will find a wide variety in approaches. Brewing temperature, brewing time, grind size and even plunge time vary quite a bit.
At first sight the complexity involved in the recipes might seem intimidating, but they shouldn’t. The fact that people are making delicious coffee using different parameters, represent that the AeroPress is harder to mess up than other coffee brewing methods. Once you’ve got the basics down, experiment and try some award winning recipes.
