Durable Carton Sealing Tape Helps Protect Items In Storage And In Transit

Opening a convenience store or a retail shop, after years of accumulating hard-earned savings, is a big step toward a bright future as an entrepreneur. Aside from finding a suitable store location, partnering with trusted suppliers, and securing all the necessary permits, a store owner would have to ensure that all items to be sold, as well as the furniture and appliances to be used, will remain in good condition while in transit.

For small dry goods, using corrugated boxes reinforced with durable carton sealing tape should more than suffice for shipment and storage purposes. On the other hand, large shelves and refrigerators require other kinds of storage materials to keep them safe while in transit. In any case, all items, particularly food and beverages, have to be in good condition on opening day. This means they must be stored in the appropriate boxes and reinforced with the best packaging materials to prevent damage.

A carton sealing tape is a type of pressure-sensitive, single-coated adhesive tape used to secure cardboard or carton boxes. As defined by the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council, carton sealing tape is a flexible strip of paper or plastic with an adhesive coating on one or both sides that can be glued or adhered to any surface at room temperature.

As the term implies, a single-coated adhesive tape has adhesive on one side and a foil or polymeric film component on the other. The adhesive side may be made of silicone or acrylic, effective sealing substances known for their versatility and compatibility with different containers. Masking, and carton sealing tapes are all examples of single-coated adhesive tape.

Meanwhile, a double-coated adhesive tape has a polymeric film coating on both sides; membrane switch and medical tapes fall under this category. These kinds of tapes may not be appropriate for the simple packaging needs of a small convenience store, however. Instead, a strong stretch wrap film or a pliable bubble wrap could help ensure the safe delivery of certain items and even appliances.

Certain packaging and storage needs call for specific types of adhesives. Check out adhesives.org for more information.
