Employees are an important constituent of an organizational set-up and so it is important to ensure good quality workforce. This calls for an efficient and effective recruitment process. Checking credibility is an important requirement for an employer because it is hard to ascertain this aspect through just a personal interview or a mere look at the resume.In today’s time, there are many companies all around the globe and across the sectors which have understood this fact and taken to employee background verification. So what can make a recruitment process efficient and effective?

In order to use recruitment process as a tool to pick out the most worthy ones, few points should be taken care of. It should be made sure that the job requirements and job roles have been articulately etched out. Another and very important point to note is that an ideal recruitment process should not end at using the furnished information for selecting the worthy candidate. All the furnished information should be first verified before declaring the candidate as the most befitting one for the job role in question.

Employee background verification refers to a combination of checks required by a company. These checks are opted by the company as per it requirements. Background check requirements can differ from company to company as it is based on various grounds. One of the criteria is an employee's job position in the organization's structure of hierarchy. This is an important criterion because a job designation is capable of giving an estimate of the years of work experience of the designation holder as well as his educational background.

For example, if a company needs to opt for checks to verify a fresher, his background check might only consist of address check, education check and criminal record check. But if the person who needs to be verified as a manager, the background check would also include employment check and/or professional reference check in addition to the above three checks. Furthermore, if checks need to be ascertained for verifying a department head, the company may opt for all the above checks as well as an in-depth reference check, integrity and credit database check, Indian and overseas regulatory authorities' database check and so on.

Hence, not only is the whole background verification concept has become important but corporate sector has also understood that selection of checks within employee background verification is equally important.
