Organisations across industries follow the practice of pre-employment background check with an objective to hire employees who not only possess excellent professional and educational record but also individuals with good values and integrity. Organisations run different checks, mostly, with the help of third party background verification companies. Organisations take an employee on board once the verification report of the employee comes clean. However, the employment screening process of an employee doesn't end with the completion pre-employment screening process.
With the rising instances of employee fraud, organisations have started realising the fact that employee report generated at the time of on-boarding cannot hold significance throughout their tenure. Therefore, most of the organisations started to extend their background check procedure which can be conducted at regular intervals to ensure that employee hasn't undergone a change which works against the interest of the organisation. Employees should always make sure that they provide each and every detail about their educational background to the employer. They should inform the employer in case they have any up gradation in their education by getting an additional degree or diploma. In case, employees do not update, his or her new qualifications can be clashed against their current profile, which the employer can think as a deception and lose trust on the employee. An employee should therefore keep the employers informed on the new updates pertaining to education. Address change of an employee is also crucial information about which an employee should always update the employer. Current residing address of employee is very important for the employer as it is very essential in case of emergency situations.
It can also happen that an employee can inculcate a new habit like drug abuse which no organization would tolerate as it acts against the interest of the company and its people. A periodic verification conducted on employees will reveal this fact, which may result in termination of the employee. There are cases when employees involve in unscrupulous activities later in their tenure. As most of the companies are leaning towards the process of periodic background check, the illegal activities of employee will definitely come into light and this will lead to severe punishment like termination or legal action which can ruin professional as well as their personal life.
Taking all these points into consideration, an employee should always keep their employer updated and maintain good behavior throughout their tenure in the organisation to stay away from unpleasant surprises.
