Boxes And Carton Sealing Tape: Tips For A Hassle-free Move

Planning on changing residences soon? If you’re in for a big change of location, it pays to take stock of your situation early rather than later. For certain, relocating can be an exciting new chapter in your life, but getting there can be a whole different story.

You’ve probably heard plenty of nightmare moving stories from your neighbors. You may even have some yourself from previous moves. Even so, you shouldn’t let the burdens of travel cause you so much panic. Moving is an adventure, and all you need to enjoy it is some boxes, a reliable plan, and plenty of carton sealing tape.

Don’t underestimate the packing step

There is one very important detail you must keep in mind: packing is the one piece in the moving equation that can make your move a breeze or a disaster. If you don’t pack properly, you could end up spending countless hours looking for stuff before and after a move. You could even end up damaging some of your precious cargo. With that in mind, it’s critical that you pay attention to the packing step.

Choosing boxes

You can organize your packing chores by choosing the right type of boxes for your belongings. So which type of boxes should you choose? Should you purchase new ones or will recycling old boxes be enough? Does bigger mean better? Sure, a bigger box can hold more, but will the material be strong enough to handle the weight? Whichever type of boxes you settle on, be sure to test the sturdiness of your boxes before you start packing your stuff in.

As a rule of thumb, each box you fill should not weigh more than 50 lbs., regardless of size. Even if you’ve hired a moving company, remember that you may still have to move the boxes yourself, so make sure you can actually lift them. If boxes beyond 50 lbs. cannot be avoided, keep them at a minimum.

The quality of your packing materials

Your packages are only as good as the packing material you use to seal them in, so be sure to use quality packing material, and use them properly. It will be unwise to scrimp on packing materials—if your boxes require sturdy stretch wrap film to keep them steady in the truck, then don’t hesitate to do so.
