Reward Those Who Use It


Do you run a business with a storefront or cashier? Have the clerk or cashier mention that customers who download the app get an extra 10% off their purchase or they get a free soda or other item you sell. Add value instead of just discounting your items by giving out coupons to people who use your app the most. Offer a four for three deal, or something similar, that still requires customers to purchase something.

Have your employees communicate the message, and include a sign that tells customers about the promotion in the front of your store. If you don’t run a storefront you can communicate this promotion through social media, your website and emails.

Another way to increase customer use of your app is to reward those who share the app with other people. Give customers a value-added promotion whenever they share the app with a certain amount of people. This increases your customer-base and ensures that the initial customers don’t just delete the app from their phones, since they have an incentive to keep it and share it with others.

Create a Video


Is your app web-based, native or in an app store? Different types of apps have different acquisition methods, and not everyone knows how to complete them. Include a narrator to offer guidance, and provide text and imagery so people don’t have any questions after being told to download your app. Having a cashier tell customers to get your app is only the first step. Every mobile app marketing expert will tell you to share links about your app in all of your communications. This includes a link in your email signature, on your website, social media and more. Unfortunately a simple line of text and a link is less likely to attract click throughs compared to a professional-looking image that details benefits and even shows how easy it is to get the app on a phone.

Create a small graphic with someone clicking on the app in the app store or scanning a QR code. This image stands out more than a link at the end of your email signature and actually gives customers a piece of information to help them download the app. The combination of text and imagery convinces people to take action, so it helps to include a call-to-action and the benefits of using the app as text overlayed on top of the image.

Make a Slideshow

Sometimes videos are expensive or you don’t have the creative capabilities to make a video that outlines how to download and use your app on your website. In this case you can create a nice slideshow to place on the homepage of your website or even put it on a loop at your register if you run a storefront. Try PowerPoint or SlideShare to put together free slideshows.
