The Dodge Dart, Charger And Challenger Earn J.d. Power Apeal Awards

The results of the J.D. Power APEAL study were recently released and Dodge cars came out on top in three categories. The study focused on what individuals liked about their 2014 vehicles after the first 90 days of ownership.

The 2014 Dodge Dart won the top spot in the Compact Car category. Consumers took to the fuel economy of the Aero model which is rated at 28 miles per gallon in the city and 41 miles per gallon on the highway. The Dart comes with a standard 6-speed manual transmission. An automatic 6-speed is also available. The four cylinder SE and Aero engines turn out 160 horsepower while the other three available versions produce a healthy 184 horsepower. Trims available for the 2014 Dodge Dart are the SE, SXT, Aero, GT and Limited. These five packages give consumers plenty of choices in the compact model category.

The 2014 Dodge Challenger grabbed first in the Top Rated Midsize Sporty Car category. Owners enjoyed the updated retro look that gave a tip of the hat to the 1970's era muscle car. ... V-6 cranks out an impressive 305 horsepower through a 5-speed manual transmission. The Challenger R/T boasts a 5.7-liter hemi V-8 that produces 375 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque. If combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the engine turns out 375 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2014 Dodge Challenger got exceptionally high marks for overall quality and overall performance and design.

The 2014 Dodge Charger came out on top in the Top Rated Large Car category. The new Charger is another tribute to the Charger muscle cars of the past. The entry level SE comes with a 292 horsepower, 3.6 liter 6-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The SXT and V6 versions have the same engine specifications as the SE, but the power is transferred through 8-speed automatic transmissions. The R/T version has a 370 horsepower 5.7-liter V-8 and a 5 speed automatic transmission. The premium SRT8 Super Bee and SRT8 versions come with a huge 6.4 liter V-8 that puts out 470 horsepower through a 5-speed automatic.

Many car enthusiasts are already looking forward to the updated versions of the Charger and Challenger in the coming years. Those looking for an economy ride, without sacrificing style and performance, will no doubt be interested in the present and future versions of the Dart.
