Technological breakthrough has led to the emergence of RFID technology or Radio Frequency Identification technology. This technology is being increasingly used in several applications and the list is growing day by day. Quite simply, RFID India technology uses tags to transmit and receive radio signals to the readers who picks up the signal. The tags have antennas that assist them to send and receive signals and revert back to radio frequency queries with the help of electronic transponder that saves the information about the item. This can be referred when the need arises.

RFID Applications
There are several benefits of using RFID technology as compared to bar coding. RFID tags contain a read and write option that means the data stored on the RFID label can be read by the authorized users. So, there is no unauthorized use of data. Further, RFID tags can store large amount of data easily, whereas a bar code is restricted to 50 bytes and RFID tags can be easily read again and again and has an expected lifespan of 10 years.

In case of RFID tags, there is no strict control where it should be positioned. The major difference between bar codes and RFID is the labels can be easily read and it adheres to standard positioning. The only need for RFID tag is that it must be within the field of reader and it should not be blocked by metals or water. This is additional benefit that the reader can read the numerous tags at similar time. Also, these tags are robust and secure.

RFID technology has its applications in asset, document and software tracking, but it doesn’t end here. There is a lot of potential for RFID technology to be used. It can be used in hospitals, people tracking, in logistics, in retail firms and even in the manufacturing. Other areas where it finds its applications include manufacturing, ticketing, baggage tracking and it has other business benefits also.
When it is used for tracking the assets, RFID technology can reduce the loss or theft of the goods, minimize the shrinkage and provide additional layer of security for the tagged items. By pairing the assets to its owner or a location, a RFID tag can send the alerts in case the asset is moved from its location without the owner or it moves in a restricted location. The tag offers audit travel to the movement of the goods. And the benefit of RFID tag in document tracking reduces the time spend in searching for documents or books. It can be easily used to identify the misplaced items or not stored properly, thus improving the process of tracking. The system helps in auditing in a way that it helps in tracing the materials and usage rates. It can be further combined with check in or check out system that tracks time and usage of the material.

The use of RFID improves security of sensitive material and can be used as authentication tool.
There are other serious business benefits of RFID technology, like it streamlines the cost, improved time-efficiency and better visibility of the product. So, why the businesses are thinking before implementing this technology? Well, the answer is price. Traditionally, the businesses think about costs and these tags come at high costs, so SME are not ready to implement it. The cost of the tag depends upon volume, memory size, packaging, tag embedded in thermal transfer.
