Service dogs are specially trained dogs that provide assistance to individuals with a disability. They are not only great to have around but provide warmth and affection that many individuals with disabilities may not otherwise have. Dogs have always been known as man's best friend. Service dogs help with daily routines and help keep those children who may have outburst calm and happy. Autistic children often deal with stress that is related to lack of verbal communication. Service dogs can actually help to keep these kids calm and relaxed reducing their level of stress. Interaction with the service dogs can help children with their verbal communication skills as they give commands and communicate with their dog. Service dog are also extremely helpful with autistic children learning to understand nonverbal communication.

Caring and spending time with their dog helps them to become aware of the many nonverbal mannerisms that are universal to all. Service dogs for kids with autism can be a parents saving grace. Through interaction with these specially trained service dogs, kids who felt isolated and alone will began to grow and blossom.
