Online Shopping - The Best Way To Shop For The HolidaysBy Expert Author: John Henry
There is no question that online shopping is the most desirable method of shopping for people around the world. In the US, it is the number-one preference for all shoppers, especially when shopping during the holiday season. According to an interview session held by Deloitte in which over 5,000 US consumers were interviewed, 47% said that they prefer to shop online.
The interviews were taken last year in September and was the first time that the Deloitte Annual Holiday Survey revealed the internet as the number-one platform for consumer shopping. And it was the first time in over 15 years of the survey that consumers chose online shopping over traditional brick and mortar stores. And that is purely because of the fact that online you can get things a lot faster and save a lot of money as well.
According the survey, it was also revealed that there is a strong link between the allure of shopping online and the increase in the use of smartphone and tablets. Out of 10 smartphone users, it has been estimated that 7 smartphone users will use their phone for online shopping, even more so when the holiday season starts. The top two uses of a smartphone pertaining to online shopping for holidays includes finding locations of popular stores, and checking and comparing prices. While about 45% of users say that they also incorporate the use of social media to aid them in online holiday shopping.
About 61% of the consumers that were surveyed are proud owners of smartphones which signifies a 19% increase from the year before.
Moreover, a majority of the people who bought smartphones in 2013 were women aged 18 to 34 and those who earn around $100,000 a year or less. Shoppers can now easily look at the products from various different retailers and compare prices and then shop for whatever they desire.
Retailers have also profited a lot by incorporating the use of tablets which allows their sales teams and customers to have broader views when selecting from a wide array of merchandise. Moreover, according to a report published by Euromonitor titled ‘Consumers in America’, 84% of North and South Americans now use smartphone and tablets to shop for gifts for the holiday season, which is staggering.
Another important trend this holiday season is the increment in gift exchanging during Christmas from overseas and between cities in the US. Online shopping via ecommerce has made things easy for everybody. You can send and receive gifts from anywhere in the world through online retailers. Plus, online shopping gives you a considerable edge over traditional shopping which includes comparing prices and getting your products shipped for free or at a lower cost during the holiday season.
So, sit back and relax and keep an eye out for attractive deals this holiday season.
