Why Expats Really Love Namma BengaluruBy Expert Author: Ashwin Architects Bengaluru
A small world within the world, Namma Bengaluru with its hospitable, helpful, co-operative and social nature had warmly melted hearts of innumerable expats. What makes Bengaluru an ideal place, is the favorable climate and the green environment. Further, technology and educational development are another vital aspect that expats consider before moving here.
The ‘Silicon City’ accommodates hundreds of expats from different parts of the world every year. Residents from the country and out of the country come here to pursue higher education as well as to mold their career in various fields. It’s not only a place for enough software and IT parks but a grand city to explore.
The expats from Uganda also consider the city to be safe for students. Ssekamatte Andrew, a BBM final year student studying at the Garden City College, said, “From a very tender age I had a passion to study in India, as I had read a lot about the country. My dream to pursue education in the country has come true today. Language is not a problem in Bangalore as most can communicate with us in English. We have also made efforts to learn a few words which are used on a day-to-day basis. Bangaloreans are a helpful lot when there is need.” Source: ibnlive.in.com
‘Home is where Heart is’
Nearly all expats allure the striking social life and culture the most. The treasured Indian culture with colorful weather conditions gives them a parallel back to home experience making them feel comfortable. One can hang out with friends and families, visiting different spots around the city during the weekend. To name, Lalbagh Garden, ISKON temple, UB City are few fascinating spots.
Countless restaurants serving the Indian delicacies and a few serving different country cuisines will cast a spell on you. Bangalore has the highest number of pubs in Asia. An enigma in itself, people are known to work hard and party harder. Bangaloreans work hard all round the week and then chill out in pubs on weekends.
Bangalore at its Best
Further, rapid and exponential architecture of roads and buildings with beautiful designs are furthering Bangalore to be a perfect cosmopolitan metro. Bangalore’s villa homes and farmhouses have become a great choice for expats’ to make a life in ‘the garden city’. In addition, Bangalore has the highest number of professionals in USA; almost 60% of the Indian population abroad is from Bangalore.
"Foreigners are flying into Bangalore. It's a cosmopolitan metro. I find it easy to work and stay here. One can go partying and pubbing, and at the same time do some real good work at office. After all, work culture is a major reason for me coming to Bangalore. Given a chance, I would stay back here and work for my entire life." Source: citehr.com, timesofindia.indiatimes.com
Challenges in Bengaluru
Bangalore is the best Indian city when it comes to quality of living for expatriates, but it has some drawbacks too. Surviving with expensive living, food cost and hectic city life is an immense challenge. Bengaluru has one of the highest numbers of cigarette smokers. Further Bangalore has been identified as one of the 14 cities having high levels of particulate matter. Heavy traffic with lack of exceptional public transport has added to discontent.
“The good thing is that Bangalore is getting to be a perfect metropolitan city. On the downside, I think this city is getting dirtier by the day, its population is increasing and so is the pollution! The traffic situation is horrendous and Bangalore has become a very expensive city to live in.” Source: www.thehindu.com
