If you have a sweet tooth and a taste for nostalgia, you now have easy access to the old sweet shops of yesteryears and can enjoy retro sweets from a variety of eras. Many believe that sweets have lost their appeal, wonder and fun in recent years, with candy from ...
... the past taking precedence as if they were the stuff of legends. With many products continuing to rise in the popularity ratings, it is easy to see why.

Back in the 1960's there were many popular sweets in existence that are still available today. Pear Drops are a classic British favourite, flavoured with pear and banana, the hard boiled sweets are still the 14th most popular in the UK today. Still the most sought after sweet today, Flying Saucers also came into being during this era and the rice paper, filled with tangy sherbet has retained its taste and is an iconic retro sweet in many parts of the world. If you ever wanted to make your love-life progress in one, short sentence, Love Hearts are the candy for you. With witty one-liners and sweet statements, even the most hopeless romantic can achieve their desires with this crunchy and delicious sweet. Parma Violets were a sweet unto their own, with a specific perfumed scent and taste they were often considered the Marmite of the sweet world. For those who enjoyed them, these small, round sweets were bought in their millions.

The 1970's brought an increase in the level of branding and marketing, and sweets were no exception to this, even boasting their own mascots. Bertie Bassett became a household name for Licorice Allsorts- a variety bag created almost on accident. You'll be happy to know, after a long career promoting the mixture for several decades, Bertie got married to a fellow mascot, Betty, in 2009.

Out of all of the eras, the most vivid and memorable in terms of retro sweets has to be the 1980s. The UK market for sweets was at its peak, with many major companies in the UK producing several delicious and vibrant products. Sherbet was highly desirable, and sweets such as Fizz Wizz and Popping Candy were a playground favourite. Refreshers took the worn-out idea of the penny-chew, Blackjack and the like and injected the middle with sherbet, making a toffee-fizz unlike any other. But the most popular retro sweet has got to be Wham Bars. A classic that has maintained its fan-base to the extent of having a campaign-caused returned not so long ago, the Wham Bar is a thin, chewy bar filled with pockets of tasty, fizzing sherbet creating a mouth sensation not to be missed!

With many of the UK's most popular retro sweets today being between 20-50 years old, it is impossible not to realise how remarkable the sweet industry has always been. With so much evident faith in the past, get back in touch with your childhood with retro sweets.

You can always buy the best sweets on the web as long as you know where to buy them. You can always look at Sweet Factore Online Sweet Shop visit here and search for the sweets that you are looking for.
