Remote controlled cars and vehicles have long been a favorite for people of all ages. From the basic to the very complex, RC’s offer hours of fun. When it comes to some of the

more unique, the quadcopters take the cake. Want to know more? Then this guide to the ins and outs of remote-controlled quadcopters is will help you.

What is a quadcopter?
Simply put, it is a helicopter that has 4 rotors that are arranged in a cross type of configuration. Unlike the conventional RC helicopter, there is no single large collective pitch rotator nor is there a

tail rotor that is associated with a traditional helicopter. These fixed pitched propellers work against each other, with two spinning clockwise and the other 2 spinning counter clockwise.

You can achieve all of the common directional movements that are seen in the “normal” helicopter:

• Forwards and Backwards

• Left and Right

• Hover

• Turn Rate (Yaw).

Because of the simplicity of the mechanics, and relatively low number of moving parts when compared to standard remote controlled helicopters, there are only a total of 4 moving parts on most

RC Quadcopters. The nice thing about this simplicity is that enthusiasts can easily design and custom build their own.

Is it better to custom build or buy on already complete?

That depends on the purpose. Obviously, for a young person, starting them off with a pre-built version is better and may be less expensive. For those who are just starting out in world of qudcopters,

it may be best to start with a premade version to give you the feel of handling it. Because it is a little different than the conventional versions, there are a few things that the hobbyist will need to

learn, such as:

• Running the controls for all 4 rotors

• Learning the various directionality and speeds

• How to easily lift off and land without crashing

• The Mechanics of the machine

While it is simple to learn, it is better to practice on a version and may have to replace it then spending hundreds or thousands of dollars making a custom designed quadcopter and not being able to

replace it.

How popular are quadcopters?

In the category of multi-rotor remote control, the quadcopter is the latest fashion. Becoming the fastest growing area in develop of the RC vertical lift platform, hobbyist and enthusiasts alike are

flocking to experience the latest versions. The nice thing is there is an e-book called ‘The Beginners Guide To Flying RC Helicopters’ that will help any newbie to learn how to control their radio

controlled copter, be it single, double or quad rotor.

Right now, in a simple search for these vehicles, there are literally thousands of sites. Some are shopping sites where you can compare brands and reviews, others are blog that tell about the unique

experience, how to build, how to repair and so forth.

RC quadcopters are the hottest thing in the remote controlled area of copters. Offering a unique way to experience flying, there are a wide variety of designs to choose from. From the beginner to

the enthusiast and expert, these little vehicles are great.
