Dreaming of settling in the country of the kangaroos? Well if you need roots you must have the seed to settle yourself on the foreign turf. There is no better way to do it than to invest in the country that you dream of living your entire life in. Investing in both the private and government bonds will earn you a Significant Investor Visa, technically also known as 188 Visa.
Actually the number 188 Visa denotes a subclass of the Significant Investor Visa. This visa is for people who want to own and manage a new or existing business in Australia or to invest in an Australian state or territory. It is part of the Business Innovation and Investment Programme. One must submit an expression of interest through Skill Select and be nominated by a state or territory government before being invited to apply for this visa.
The visa includes three types:
•Business Innovation type;
•Investor type and
•Significant Investor type.
Significant Investor Visa programme was initiated in 2012 to attract potentially significant, i.e., financially sound investment from immigrants who wish to settle in Australia. The maximum amount that an individual can invest is 5 million Australian dollars. The programme also facilitates the proposal for investment by the family members of the initial investor.
There are a number of merits of this investment plan like, one is not restricted by one upper age limit, one need not pass the English language proficiency test, the requirement of permanent residency period is also reduced and the visa holders of the family (spouse and children) of initial investor in the Significant Investor Visa scheme could also come to work and study in Australia. Moreover, one need not prove him/herself in the innovation point test.
These perks obviously come with some compliance requirements. For example, the investment must be made before the provisional 188 Visa is granted. Moreover, the period of the provisional significant investor visa is 4 years, during which time the applicant will be required to invest 5 million Australian dollars into the mentioned (essential) investments. These investments include
•Infrastructure projects within Australia like roads, investment in industry etc.
•Cash deposits in various financial institutions earmarked for receiving deposits.
•Bonds issued by the Australian Government (federal, central and territorial).
•Companies and trusts bonds, equity, hybrids or other corporate debt as listed on an Australian stock exchange.
•Bonds or term deposits issued by Australian financial institutions.
•Investments in real estate within Australia (includes the territory as it expands into the sea. This could include investments in fishing industry.)
•Australian agribusiness, including fisheries, diary etc.
•Other ASIC (Australian Securities Investment Commission) regulated managed funds that invest in the above list of investment options
Additionally, state or territory government sponsorship is required and each state or territory will apply their own conditions on complying investments. Now, if you wish to see yourself succeed in this land of opportunities you can either apply for the Permanent 888 visa or extended the 188 Visa or Significant Investor Visa by two, 2-year extensions for a maximum period of four years. If you wish to get things done in a hassle-free manner, get in touch with independent agencies that will take care of the legal procedures.
