Buying Kids' Clothes On A BudgetBy Expert Author: Angel Lane
Kids grow out of their clothes so fast when they are growing up. It doesn't matter whether you're talking about babies or teenagers - none of their clothes seem to last that long.
This makes it all the more important to make sure you get the best value for money out of your purchases. However, buying very cheap clothing can mean the items don't last as long as they should Buying cheap things often leads to shrinkage in the wash and that's never a good thing. They can literally wear something once or twice and end up never being able to wear it again. When you add up the number of super cheap things you buy that do this, you start to see they may not be that cheap after all.
The trick is to think about what you buy and where you buy it from. It is also good to consider how old your child is and whether a particular item is suitable for them at that age. For instance you might see a particular item that fits their age group but you know they will soon grow out of it. In this case it can sometimes be better to hang fire for a short while until you are able to buy the larger size for them. You'll soon get the hang of this whenever you are out shopping.
This applies to shopping online too of course. In fact when you shop online you need to enact some of the same rules you would bring into play when shopping in the high street. For instance you should be alert to the potential of sales. You can get some real bargains in sales, from tights for boys to pretty dresses for girls. However they are only really bargains if you were intending to buy them in the first place. This is a dangerous place to be if you are on a budget!
You also need to be aware of postage costs if you buy online. Sometimes the convenience of having things delivered to your door is worth it, especially since you will have a far bigger range of clothing to choose from online. However you will also find it more tempting to buy things on a regular basis - and those postage charges can certainly add up. If you have several things to buy it is worth seeing whether you can get them all on the same site to save on charges. From tights for boys to specialist clothes for sports, you might be surprised at what you can find.
The main thing to remember is to stick to your budget, whatever it might be. Some people allocate a certain amount each month for clothing. If they go over that amount one month they reduce it the next to make up the difference. You simply need to find a way that works for you. This will make life far easier when it comes to buying the right clothes at the right time.
