Affordable Bucket List Adventures

By Expert Author: www.cheapfares.com

Don’t assume that your dreams need to take a back seat simply because you tend to travel only after having carefully researched your cheap travel options, including cheap airplane tickets, discount hotel rooms, discount travel deals, cheap auto rentals, and cheap vacation packages.

The following are bucket list adventures that even travelers on a budget can afford, according to Budget Travel:

• For under $100 per person you can hike a volcano and walk on a dried lava field in Hawaii. Visit the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park where you can drive right up to the caldera. Make sure you take the Crater Rim Drive, an 11 mile road that passes through the various volcano landscapes from tropical rainforest to the desert like crater itself, with scenic overlooks along the way.

Visitors can walk inside the Thurston Lava tube, no longer an active part of the volcano, and walk one third mile inside Kilauea where lava once flowed a couple hundred years ago.

• Go Zorbing (the art of rolling and bouncing down a hill while inside a giant, hamster wheel like plastic ball contraption) in New Zealand. This is an adrenaline junkie’s dream come true. There are two options: Zydro, a water ride version of the Zorb, and Zorbit, the dry version. Prices for one Zorb ride are $45 per person or $70 for two to ride in the same globe.

• Zip lining over alligators in St. Augustine, Florida provides quite the rush. Visitors have to complete an aerial obstacle course over a park full of crocodiles, alligators, and hundreds of other reptiles. Prices range from $30 to $65 per person depending on how long of a course you select.

• Drive among the buffalo in Custer State Park which is located about an hour’s drive south of Mount Rushmore. Just getting there will take you through many twisting mountain roads, magnificent views, and incredible wildlife encounters. Admission to Custer State Park costs $4 per person per day or $15 per vehicle for up to seven days.

• Go dog sledding in Mont Tremblant (a two hour drive from Montreal), Canada for under $150 per person, per day for packages.

• Visit Machu Picchu a mystical land once ruled by the ancient Inca tribes of Peru. Once you arrive at Cuzco, the rest of your trip will be very affordable. Visitors can choose from taking a four day Inca Trail hike or riding a train to the top.

• Make a pilgrimage to the Great Wall of China. Great vacation packages, including airfare, can be had for under $1,000 per person, depending on time of year, departing from major U.S. cities.

• Enjoy a hot air balloon ride in Albuquerque, New Mexico for under $200 per person per day. Sunrise and sunset flights are that much more special. Trips typically last 3.5 hours in duration. If watching from the sidelines is more your style, then visit during the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta festival held annually in early October when thousands of colorful hot air balloons can be viewed.

• A scenic train ride through the Alaska wilderness is a trip to remember. You should try to travel during the shoulder season which is May and September to make your trip more affordable and face fewer crowds and milder temperatures. The Alaska Railroad offers a variety of vacation deals, with one of the most popular called “Just the Basics package” which is a five day adventure.

• Snorkeling Australia’s Great Barrier Reef which is the world’s largest coral reef is on many a bucket list.

• For under $400 per person per day you can now visit Cuba legally. To travel to Cuba you must be part of a religious organization, educational group, or on a people-to-people guided tour. Chartered flights are available from Miami.
