What is Singulair :
Singulair is an anti-allergic medication which is used for treatment of asthma patients. Using this medication we can stop asthma attacks. It is also used for the treatment of the exercise-induced bronchospasm (EIB). Mostly it is prescribed for the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma in adults and pediatric patients. Singulair is also indicated for relief from the symptoms of seasonal allergic thinitis in patients 2 years of old and older; and perennial allergic rhinitis in patients 6 months of age and older.
Since it is medication for the asthma then also it will not work fast enough to threat an asthma attacks that has already began. For that you have to use only a fast-acting breathing medicine to take care of it. Although SINGULAIR is effective in improving airway function in asthmatics with documented aspirin sensitivity, it has not been shown to truncate bronchoconstrictor response to aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in aspirin-sensitive asthmatic patients. Singulair is a leukotriene (loo-koe-TRY-een) inhibitor. Leukotrienes are chemicals your body releases when you breathe in an allergen. These chemicals cause bump in your lungs and tapering of the muscles around your airways, which can develop asthma symptoms.
