Cheap travel deals, including cheap airplane tickets, discount hotel rooms, discount travel deals, and cheap vacation packages can all help make a vacation affordable. However, the destination you select will also play a major role.

The following are some of the cities with the best values America has to offer, according to US News Travel:

• Nashville is reputed to have some of the cheapest hotel prices in the South as well as some of the tastiest barbecue in the country. Nashville is a laid back getaway filled with down home fun.

• Savannah is famous for its low prices and picturesque architecture and many restaurants that dish out hearty portions of Southern fare. Savannah’s budget friendly room rates help make longer stays affordable.

• Washington, D.C. offers a wide range of hotel prices, including ones for visitors on a budget. Tourists can spend days perusing dozens of Smithsonian museums along the National Mall and/or visit the National Zoo, all of which are free.

• Seattle offers plenty of inexpensive activities to keep tourists dry on a rainy day, of which there are many. Check out the world’s first Starbucks, peruse the Pike Place Market, or take a hike (on a sunny day) on the trails in the Olympic Mountains. Great deals can be had on Emerald City hotels during the winter.

• Chicago offers plenty to satisfy bargain hunters including free attractions like Millennium Park and Navy Pier. Visitors don’t have to break the bank when eating out. A slice of Chicago’s famous deep dish pizza is quite affordable.

• Austin is located in the heart of the Lone Star State. Its outdoor attractions and notorious nightlife draw people from all over the country. Austin’s wide diversity of lodging and dining options make the “Live Music Capital of the World” a very attractive year round vacation destination.

• New Orleans is a culturally rich getaway with very affordable prices. Budget hotels are housed in historic buildings and spicy portions of Cajun and Creole cuisine can be enjoyed at inexpensive prices. Avoid Mardi Gras in March when prices skyrocket.

• San Antonio is home to the Alamo and River Walk. This is a happening city. Visitors can save on hotels and dining by avoiding the heart of the city and migrating towards neighborhoods like King William and Alamo Heights.

• Myrtle Beach sports many golf courses, beaches, and family friendly attractions. Its budget friendly hotels and restaurants make it all the more attractive. Look into the stay and golf deals offered by many Myrtle Beach hotels or spend time on the city’s public beaches.

• Puerto Rico offers all of the attractions of a Caribbean getaway at a fraction of the cost. Many all inclusive resorts can be found on this island, as well as impressive sandy beaches, and great seafood. This American commonwealth is a great destination for bargain hunters who want to enjoy a more luxurious, yet still affordable beach vacation.
