A TMD specialist may use all of them in tandem or a combination of these treatment methods. The device that is prescribed dispenses small amount of medications into the jaw muscles. They also prevent your jaw from grinding and clenching. The device acts as a support for the jaw bone and will keep it aligned. Over a period of time the jaw will naturally align itself and the device is removed after examination. This device is very small and does not cause any obstruction to your mouth.
If you have excessive pain in the temporal lobes the doctor will address it using pain killer medications further to the treatment through device.
