The certification criteria which proposed 2015 EHR technology has been released by ONC .

The office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, which also contains the certification criteria of next edition of EHR technology, has released proposed rule. The proposed rules represent the new approaches of ONC for the criteria update speedily to include the enhanced standards and regulatory clarity, according to the announcement by the Department of Health and Human Services US.
This new criteria is known as 2015 Edition, which is basically the first edition of certification criteria which do not knotted to the actual regulations of Meaningful Use.
Most important that this criteria is voluntary and the ONC put emphasis on proposed rule which the developers of EHR technology, i.e. certified to the criteria of 2014, will no more require to re-certify and also not to upgrade to the edition of 2015 which fulfill the definition of certified electronic health record system.

ONC Proposed Rules
The proposal of interest for the Edition 2015 includes;
• Emphasize linked certification with the certification status of complete EHR.
• To maintain the criteria of results accessed as the repetition of 2014 Edition.
• ACR has supported to empower the enhanced radiology CPOE software to get linked certification by separating the three types i.e. labs, MEDs, and radiology into the separate criteria of CPOE
• Fixing the standard of CDS to align with the initiative of Health e-Decisions
• Recording user simply ignores the responses to the interaction of drug-drug and drug-allergy alerts during the orders of medications.

2015 EHR Standards
The ONC has released the proposed rules for the standards of 2015 voluntary EHR certification. The standards of 2015 are designed to promote the interoperability, according to the release by ONC, also to improve the standards of 2014. It has been noticed that although voluntary, by simply securing the certification of EHR, the vendors could try to sell their product in the market of electronic health record software. Both the vendors and providers have stated some concern about meeting with the swing of health IT initiatives in speedy succession.

2014 Edition

ONC established the certification program of ONC HIT for the health information technology to grant the authority to the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology in HITECH Act.
