Benefits Of Sunless Tanning
Total Articles: 19
Sunless tanning has become a very popular alternative to the traditional method of obtaining a tan from the UV-rays produced by the sun. One of the primary reasons for this is the direct connection that has been made between exposure to UV-rays and the possibility of developing skin cancer. There are a number of different options where sunless tanning is concerned and each of them will have a slightly different effect depending on how they are used.
The best way to understand the amazing benefits of the various different sunless tanning options is to first understand exactly what sunless tanning is. Sunless tanning is simply another way to describe the process involved in obtaining a tan without risking exposure to actual UV rays. It has also been called self tanning, fake tanning, UV-free tanning, and even spray tanning. It most commonly refers to the ability to achieve an almost identical look to that of an actual suntan, by applying chemicals to those areas of the body that needs tanning.
Sunless tanning has come a long way since people first starting using the various options available. There are quite a few possibilities, where sunless tanning is concerned, and the preferred method will vary from one individual to the next. What it really boils down to is personal preference in the end and it really is as simple as that. This is because each of the sunless tanning options works in one way or another. What makes the biggest difference is the way in which each sunless tanning option is applied to the body.
One of the most common methods of sunless tanning being used today is the spray on method, or the professional spraytan. This is the method that is used most often by tanning salons, spas and beauty salons that offer sunless tanning services. Customers typically have two options when it comes to the application process. These include hand-held sprayer, or what is otherwise known as a UV-Free spray booth. Between the two options, the UV-Free spray booth would have to be the preferred method of application simply because it provides sunless tanning over the entire body.
It is important to remember that there are a large number of self tanners that make use of chemical fragrances that can be quite dangerous for people who suffer from asthma or frequent skin allergies. A UV-Free spray booth produces a spray tan that literally covers the entire body, and it can be difficult to avoid breathing in some of the chemicals in the air. For those who might feel unsure about using this particular type of sunless tanning, there are many other options available.
Another popular sunless tanning method is the use of tanning accelerators that come in the form of mousse, powders, sprays, gels, and lotions. These accelerators come in a variety of different types with their primary difference being exactly how long they will last on the body. This time difference can range from the 24 hour bronzers, that are used for their very temporary effects, to the DHA based extended lotion accelerators that can last up to 3-5 days. The great thing about these particular sunless tanning options is that they only last up until the moment that they are washed off of the body. The 3-5 day accelerator fades away gradually after each individual washing.
One of the most recent options available for those interested in sunless tanning is the moisturizers and lotions that include gradual tanning agents in them. They work over a period of time, with the initial application producing a slight difference in skin tone. It is important to keep in mind that skin color will not be effected instantaneously, but will rather change slightly with each application. Overuse is not necessary, or recommended, as it can be dangerous in the end.
Air brushing is the final form of application where sunless tanning is concerned, and it is by far one of the most interesting of options. This particular form of sunless tanning is best applied by a professional experienced in applying sunless tanning agents with an air brush however, at-home kits can be purchased as well. The air brush application has a life expectancy of anywhere from 5-10 days depending on the success of the application. It is very similar to the tanning accelerators in that it fades away, little by little, after each washing.
Sunless tanning really has come a very long way since its first use quite some time ago. The application options continue to change, and progress, producing quicker and better results with each new option.
