Useful Tips For Planning A Great Trip

By Expert Author: Rudolph Sabeiha

Everyone has a vacation nightmare experience to share! In most of these stories, the problems could have been averted through proper planning. Follow the tips mentioned in this article and you should be able to plan a great vacation.

Create a list of all the things you need to pack before a trip. Sometime well before your trip, at least a week or more, write down all of the items that you must pack. If you get in a rush and have to pack right before you leave, this list will ensure that you have everything that you need, and that you do not forget something.

Watch out for faux cops or faux government officials in foreign countries, as they may be criminals. You should never give anyone your original passport no matter who they purport to be, or you could end up stranded in a strange land. If they are insistent about detaining you, ask to walk to the office. Do not get into a vehicle with someone that you do not know.

Make sure you are prepared to take care of yourself, even on longer flights. Bring your own blanket, pillow and headphones if your trip is going to be a long one. You may also want to purchase a snack before boarding the plane.

When taking a cruise, find a good hotel in the port city that provides free or low cost parking and make plans to arrive the day before your departure. Ask the hotel's staff about any parking deals they may offer.

Make sure that you have personally identifying information inside your personal luggage in extra addition to outside tags. Exterior ones may be lost or damaged during travel. This increases the chance you will have it returned.

Get a workout in before you get on the plane. Longer flights can be hard on your body. Sitting in the same position for long periods of time can cause leg and back cramps. You can have more energy at the end of your flight when your warm up and stretch before takeoff.

While some car rental companies ask that drivers be at least 18, others require that their drivers be 25 years old. If you happen to be younger than 25, you may have to pay more money. In some cities, senior citizens are not allowed to rent cars. When you are making your reservation be sure to ask the age restrictions.

Make sure you check that you are getting the best price through the carrier themselves. Although some websites offer low prices, there may not actually be a flight to that exact location.

Consider purchasing a yearly National Park Pass if you plan to visit more than a couple times a year. For fifty dollars, you can visit all the parks all year long.

When staying at a hotel, be sure you have travel candles. Candles can really improve the aroma of a room. They are soothing and give the room a romantic feel, making it easy to relax. There are many candles on the market that are small and travel sized.

As you can see, planning is essential to enjoyable travel. If you want to reduce your stress levels and feel better about your trip overall, take the advice found here to heart.
