There are thousands of varieties of T-shirts available in the market today. From the classic polo necks to the halter necks, there are so many choices. Most of us, choose a t-shirt on the basis of its colour, design and print, seldom do we focus on the sleeves of the t-shirt. Yes! Clothes arm styles are considered to be the most functional elements of the garment. They allow freedom of movement and comfort to the wearer. Also, as it is a major element of designing a t-shirt, it is important to choose the right design of sleeve to compliment the bodice to which they are attached. Thus, choosing the right kind of sleeve may not just enhance the look of the t-shirt, but could also make it comfortable enough to be worn all day long.
The different t-shirt sleeve styles are:
This is one of the most preferred t-shirt clothes arm styles, which usually covers half of the upper arm. Also, the length of the short arm style may vary from brand to brand or from one t-shirt to another.
It is a modified version of arm less t-shirts, where a small piece of cloth covers the top of the shoulder, but doesn’t run under the adorer’s arm. These are undoubtedly more comfortable to wear during the summer months, as the cap saves the top of the shoulder from the scorching sun while the underarm is fully exposed to fresh air.
This style is usually available in ladies fashion and is exaggerated using puff or mutton top.
This style can be commonly seen in women’s apparel section and typically extends to somewhere between the wrist and the elbow. This summer, loose fitted ¾ ways are gaining popularity.
Most often spotted in wedding and children’s apparels, Puff Sleeve is a style that never goes out of fashion. It is basically a full or short arm style ruffled together at the top and tight fitted at the bottom.
This style of sleeves can be found on formal t-shirts, blouses and dresses too. The sleeve begins at the shoulder and widens towards the end of the style. Usually, butterfly clothe arm type are preferred in short lengths (4-5 inches) only.
Inspired from the Italian Renaissance and titled after Shakespeare’s tragic heroine, Juliette arm types are tight and extend the wrist, but have a puff at the top. They were brought back to fashion by Zeffirelli’s films in the early 1960’s.
It is a two piece short arm style, in which the two pieces of a sleeve overlap one over the other. This overlapping style of sleeves closely resembles the petals of a blooming flower and thus, has been named as Petal sleeve.
Dolman Sleeve t shirts style:
More commonly known as the Batwing type arm, the Dolman sleeves are an adapted version of a traditional 3/4th sleeve. In this style, the sleeves flow loosely from the upper arm to the elbow, and are terminated by a tight band below the elbow. As the winds get chilly, it is a great style to wear.
