Popularity Of The Mitsubishi Fuso Canter With Crew Cab Increases
Total Articles: 5
Since the Mitsubishi Fuso Canter is the only 7.5 ton truck that is made with a crew cab, that alone makes it pretty unique. But there are so many other parts to this popular automobile that some people may not know about.
First and foremost, the Mitsubishi Fuso Canter with Crew Cab is the answer to the Mercedes Benz-Vario, which has been discontinued. It is not surprising that this automobile is enjoying increased popularity. Here are some assets to owning one:
Spacious crew cab holds up to seven people
Only crew cab with the 7.5 + permanent GVW
Good for emergency flooding and getting crews to the disaster sites
Has a rear axle that can carry up to 6 tons
Having a rear axle that can hold up to 6 tons is quite a benchmark in the weight category for this vehicle. The Canter already is a record holder in load carrying capacities or payloads. The wheelbase determines its load carrying capacity of course which can be as much as 5,030 kilograms. Another highlight of this vehicle is that it has good body-mounting ability which is a benefit for its ladder-type frame.
The Canter crew cab’s highlights include the Canter Eco Hybrid, which is a series manufactured in Europe. These hybrids have a duonic dual clutch transmission which allows the vehicles to be driven minus the shifting gear. The strengths of these cars are also legendary, having high payloads, economic efficiency and maneuverability.
First generation Mitsubishi Fuso Canter’s came to the automobile market in March 1963. With the vehicle being on the road for over 50 years, Daimler celebrates the truck as a top seller, reaching almost 4 million units since its original launch in Japan.
The light duty truck is in high demand in more than 150 countries around the world. Specifically in the European market, the Mitsubishi Fuso Canter has been around since 1980 in Portugal. It continues its increasing popularity throughout the rest of Europe.
Bottom line is that Fuso is a global player. Its rich history dating back to 1932 Japan, shows a company building its first B46 compact bus and giving it the nickname FUSO. With sales and service outlets in so many countries, the popular vehicle can lay claim to being on five continents and having a broad product portfolio. The FUSO brand includes buses for transporting passengers, trucks for heavy and medium weight loads and the Canter which serves as the light trick. FUSO uses progressive mindedness as a standard and has always relied on quality and path breaking innovations to stay competitive.
In 2004, FUSO was announced in Asia to be the biggest commercial vehicle manufacturer where Daimler trucks were a mainstay in that country. Daimler was also the top supplier of the light duty trucks with crew cabs.
Daimler and FUSO share a major goal: on the road to emission free driving, new drive systems need to be developed; another milestone has been the eco hybrid FUSO as well. With joint experience of more than 80 years in commercial vehicle manufacturing, Daimler and FUSO not only have helped benefit the environment, but have done great research and development of the commercial vehicle for the last few decades.
The Canter, which was built in Tramagal Portugal, offers five different weight classes, three cab variants, six wheelbases and up to three engines.
The new Canter is ready to enter into its next generation. FUSO is currently taking its technical leadership and consolidating the light truck segment with the first ever dual-clutch transmission for trucks. This dual clutch transmission will also help lower consumption of fuel, have the direct-shift transmission like in passenger cars, causes less wear to the auxiliary equipment, reduces the driver’s burden and merges the convenience benefits of the economy of a manual transmission with that of the automatic transmission. With much lower maintenance costs and the addition of an increased payload, the new Mitsubishi Fuso Canter is now even more economical.
