Walking is the Best Path to Healthy Weight Loss


So, you've determined it's the best time you get started losing a little weight, and that exercising more would be a good way to start. If you haven't exercised in a long time, or never, you may not know how to get moving. Sometimes, it can seem a bit too much and even a little bit awful... All you need to do is get moving and go for a walk. You absolutely must add walking into your workout program if you haven't done so already.

You'll be surprised how easy it is to squeeze walking into your workout plan. If you have a pet then take your dog for a walk around the block for at least ten minutes. 10 minutes may not seem like a long time to walk, but in a month, or even a week, it adds up quickly. You can double this by just taking your dog for a walk twice a day. A good thing you might consider is walking part of the way to workplace; you can make this as long as you want by just stopping short of your workplace. Certainly, irrespective of how far you are from your office, you can work something out to get a little exercise on the way there. If you're lucky enough to have merely a thirty-minute or so walk to where you work, that'll be an extra hour of walking each day. If you ride to work, you can try to walk to the next bus stop so that you do a bit more walking in the day. It's not hard to integrate walking to your daily routine.


Walking is one of the easiest and most effective things you can do for better health. The reason walking is so good for your heart and at helping you lose weight is that it is the ideal aerobic exercise. You shouldn't be anxious about overworking your joints or muscles like when running, because you can walk as slowly as you must. I have a brother who's one of those people who consumes a ton of junk and fast food but never gets bigger. How does he do it? He told me how often he goes out to walk each day, and it's a lot more than I do. At the least it now is perfectly clear. Since, for many of us, nothing is easier than walking, we don't have a good excuse not to.

When you establish walking as a part of your everyday schedule, it will become more painless to stay with it, and as a bonus you'll start to notice you're losing some pounds, too. As you become used to walking, you'll note that you're unquestionably feeling more fit and, because it's not that hard on you, your motivation will be enhanced as well. Before you know it, you'll be looking forward to your usual walks and planning on going on walks even more. Why not, if you think you can do a lot more? Who knows? Perhaps you'll get used to walking a lot that you decide you can bring up the notch a bit by jogging. From there, you can advance to more brisk workouts.

There should be no excuse for you to not take a walk even if it's a short distance every day. You can always find time to walk around your work complex, or the block. If you can't do that, sign up for a gym membership and get on a treadmill. There are lots and lots of ways to skin this exercise cat.
