Emotional and psychological trauma is the outcome of a very stressful moment in your life that makes you feel inadequate and fearful, loses your sense of security, and lets you live alone. Its triggers may include violent attacks, terrible accidents, natural disasters, and others, regardless if you or a loved one is the one involved.

Other reasons to go through this condition are surgery, breakup, humiliating or frustrating event, death of someone close to your heart, and diagnosis of a severe health condition. Warning signs include guilt, hopelessness, shame, fear, anxiety, denial, and others. You can teach yourself—or your loved one—on how to take care of emotional and psychological trauma through th helpful tips:

Get connected with family and friends.
Do not separate yourself from people who can give you their understanding and support. They can help you cope with the tragedy faster than you can think. They can also make you feel happy and positive. You can de to connect with other people by joining community and volunteer groups.

Keep a journal.

... you feel and think, you can write it in your personal journal. You may not fully grasp it but it can aid you in relieving your tension and regaining your control. It can also keep you busy. Go back to your logs on a weekly basis or every month and establish your progress.

Think of the things that you have to be thankful for.
Instead of sulking in bed and thinking of your problems, make a thank-you list so you will feel good about life. Your list can comprise of a nice bedroom, gorgeous clothes, good friends, and others. Each time you feel down, browse throughthem and somehow, it can make you feel better.

Maintain your daily routine.
Never allow yourself to be troubled by what you feel and think. Continue your life. Sleep and wake up at the same time every evening. Take your everyday meals and do your daily exercise routines. More significant, you have to work. Don't forget to have time for unwinding. Find time for things that will make your mind occupied, such as cooking, playing sport, and others. As much as possible, refrain from making big changes in your life, particularly if you are not sure of the outcome. This is to safeguard you from additional distress.

Give time for you to heal.
Be patient about your predicament. You cannot possibly heal soon as you tell yourself to do so. Acknowledge the fact that you need time to grieve. There will be instances when you will feel great but there will also be occasions when you will feel otherwise. Do not be aggravated; this is just normal. As said, you need time to heal.

More important, you should not be in denial. Admit what causes your suffering and know what you need so you will know how to handle emotional and psychological trauma. If needed, obtain professional help to heal. Ask referrals from hospitals, doctors or people you know. Pick the one that you can trust.
