If you have ever suffered from foot pain of any kind you will realise how difficult it is to get around and lead a normal life. Pain in the feet can be caused by many things from plantar warts to corns and from bunions to ankle pronation. The main thing to do is find out what is causing it and seek treatment rather than hobbling around hoping it will get better by itself.

Very often it will only get worse if you don’t treat the problem. By the time you eventually go to see a doctor or podiatrist the problem will take twice as long to heal and you will very likely need to go for several appointments rather than one or two. Treatment for foot problems usually brings about a good result, but it is better to go when it first occurs rather than later.

For a start, you save yourself a lot of pain when you have the matter dealt with early on. You don’t have to give up your walks or your sport due to the pain in your feet. If you find it hard to walk, it is not long before you lose your independence as it is difficult to shop for groceries or go out for fun. Feet problems can often cause pain in other places such ...
... as the knees and back as your other muscles see to compensate for those that are not working properly.

In fact, even if the problem with your feet cannot be fixed, orthotics can still help the pain so that you can get around more. Simply walking on a soft, cushioning surface prevents jarring and makes you feel more comfortable. Heel pain can be caused by a stone bruise, spurs, plantar fasciitis or other problems. Pain in the ball of the foot can be caused by bunions, soft tissue problems, stress fractures, capsulitis or neuroma.

Pain in the feet is very debilitating but good outcomes can be achieved when you have your feet assessed and treated by the podiatrist. It can even help to prevent a fall that can cause even more damage. Broken bones from falling take longer to heal when you are older, so it is essential to prevent those falls. Your feet may be the key to fall prevention.

So don’t delay and suffer any longer, but go and see a podiatrist to get treatment for your foot problems as soon as possible. You will be glad you did.
