Various Benefits Of Using A Dry Erase Whiteboard
Total Articles: 4
There was once a time when the only classroom option was a chalkboard made of slate, but those days are long past. Today, there are dry erase boards, and they offer many benefits over a classic chalkboard.
Dry erase boards can go across a wall in a classroom, be the size of letter-ruled paper, or be as small as an index card. The range of sizes they are available in makes them an excellent learning tool. Whether on the wall of classroom or in the hands of every student, the range in size can complement the learning style of any classroom teacher and student.
A properly taken care of white board will last for years as can the tools used with them. As opposed to chalk which breaks easily, the markers used with a dry erase whiteboard don't break in half. They will need to be replaced as time goes on, but otherwise they are much more functional and long-lasting than their counterparts.
Sure chalkboards have colored chalk, but the colors are inconsistent and even have different textures which can grate on the user and audience's nerves. With a dry erase board, you can get a variety of different color markers that allow brilliant displays, presentations, and examples.
Not only does a white board function as a drawing platform, but it is also handy to have in lieu of a white screen for showing movies, using a Smartboard (or similar tool), for showing slides, or displaying overhead transparencies. The white background provides a quick fix to any room without a pull-down screen.
When students need to create examples in the classroom, dry erase boards can be used instead of paper. This can save paper and even help the environment. By putting white boards into the hands of students and using them in small group instruction, individual instruction, and even whole group instruction, they can enjoy the benefits of learning while saving paper.
Compared to the powdery surface of a chalkboard that leaves residue on the board, the tray, and just about everything near it, the uniform white of a dry erase board makes for a neater appearance, a brighter atmosphere, and a crisper feel.
One thing that makes a dry erase board superior to chalkboards is its ability to contain its mess. This is especially important when electronics are in the room. Chalk dust can easily find its way into the crevices of computer hard drives, monitors, printers, and any other piece of expensive equipment in the area. By using a dry erase board, the concern over dust is almost completely eliminated.
There are lots of advantages to using a dry erase whiteboard in the classroom. Whereas once upon a time, slate chalkboards were the only option, nowadays there is another one – one that is cleaner, more versatile, and can even help save the environment.
