Coastal Regions

The State of Maharashtra is blessed with a long and beautiful coastal line. There are many coastal towns and villages which one can visit if you have a special liking for the sea. The northern Maharashtra coastal areas are a bit rocky and you won’t find very swimming friendly beaches here. However the capital city of Maharashtra, Mumbai offers a huge share of beaches which are very tourist friendly and a place where one can spend a good evening. Moving towards the southern regions there are number of towns which one can visit and spend a very good holiday in and they are Guhaghar, Diveagar, Dapoli, Tarkarli, Ganapatipule. These are the tourist hot spots and have a number of options for accommodation. The government approved resorts are luxurious and economical. Travel in Maharashtra with the help of the government approved transport facilities and you can reach these towns in luxury.

The Hills

Maharashtra has a higher side of tourist destinations as well. The whole of Maharashtra proudly boasts of the Sahyadri ranges. These are the mountain ranges which span over almost the entire State. Because of them there are some wonderful hill stations which a tourist can visit. Hill stations like Mahabaleshwar and Matheran are the most popular ones and have pleasant climate throughout the year. Any tourist would love to visit any of these hill stations and visit the various points located on far ends of the mountain ranges. The sunset point, the sun rise point and much more can be visited when visiting these hill stations. Tourism in Maharashtra is flourishing because of these hill stations.

The Flat Lands

Cities like Nashik, Nagpur and Pune are the ones where one can enjoy a full thrust of city life. Nashik is very famous for its vineyards and grapes and agro tourism is growing very popular in this city. Nashik also is one of the most religious cities in Maharashtra and is home to a lot of ancient temples and structures. Pune being the home for the Marathas and Peshwas for decades offers its own share of tradition and the true spirit of being Marathi.
Overall Maharashtra is a mix of cultures and traditions which a tourist would love to explore.
