The VCP510: VMware Certified Professional 5 - Data Center Virtualization Test has a total of 85 questions, along with a pre-exam survey that has around eight questions. The test is marked using the scaled scoring method, and on a scale of 100-500 marks. The passing marks are 300 and are calculated taking a number of factors in account, such as the type of exam Questions, its weightage etc.
The exam is only conducted in the English language, and the time is set to 90 minutes. However, in countries where English is not the primary language, candidates are giving an additional 15 minutes to complete the test. The test is for candidates who have at least a six months experience in vSphere technologies, so that they can implement their knowledge when faced with practical life questions in this certification examinations.

Candidates knowledge regarding identifying vCenterserver editions, deploying the vCenter appliance, installing vCenter server into the virtual machine, sizing the data base, installing the components of vCenter, installing and removing client plug ins as well as enabling and disabling the plug ins. Moreover, determining the availability requirements for vCenter and determining the case for vSphere client.
The next objective is based on the installation of ESXi solely. Candidates are also made to show their knowledge of planning and performing the upgrades of vCenter Server and identify the upgrade requirements and installing them. The Test also gauges knowledge of adding, modifying and removing the permissions for users, configuring the network security policies, enabling lockdown mode, and much more regarding the secure vCenter Server and ESXi.
The next objective is based on identifying the editions and features of vSphere and designing the solutions for customers. A large chunk of the test is devoted on identifying the vSS capabilities and creating or deleting a vSphere standard switch. Candidates must also possess knowledge regarding configuring the vSS and vDS policies, as there will be Questions regarding these in the examination.
The test aims to determine the knowledge of candidates in regards to configuring share storage for vSphere, creating data stores, deploying virtual machines, creating vapps, and implementing the VMware fault tolerance.
It should be noted that to obtain this certification, it is essential that candidates have completed the V5.x course of VMware vSphere. It is also recommended that candidates indulge in thorough practice before appearing for this test. Practice can be done by downloading the Training Kits and the study guides that are provided.
