Google+ was rolled out a little while back now (2011) and it’s only a matter of time before the popularity tipping point, tips. In my opinion at least. It won’t be long before google+ is the new My Space or Facebook. Google+ is going to change social media, and the way be build relationships online once again, in fact, it has already begun. It is becoming a lot more personal, more face to face, more engaging. Right now, is a great opportunity for businesses to get involved and start learning the ins, outs and etiquette of the google+ environment.

So what makes Google+ different from the rest? First of all, they have what is know as “Circles”. This unique feature is a blend of a Facebook friend list and Twitter following. You add people to your circles and their posts will start showing up on your feed, for example, I have a family circle, a friend circle, then I have business circles which are broken down into more circles. I can then send circle specific content to only the people that the post is intended for. Direct targeted marketing at it’s best.

The next awesome feature and one I believe will bring ...
... google+ into it’s full glory once the masses discover it’s awesomeness. Is its Hangouts feature. So as much as sending messages, or having instant chats, or text messaging is great, hanging out is still, by far, the best choice. Having a hangout allows people to interact face to face. It is so much nicer and personal when you can actually see the person you are talking to. Plus when I think video chats I think Skype and Skype was about connecting family and friends. In some ways because we having video chats, we must be a friend or family. Unlike Skype though, Hangouts allow for more than 2 people in the room (up to 10) to chat and engage with each other, and, you want to share your screen? Sure, with Hangouts you can.

From a business point of view I think this is awesome… Now you can chat with potential customers face to face, and really build a solid relationship with your client base. Just think of the potential… If you are launching a new product or want to show off a prototype etc, you can do it through google hangouts in front of a live audience. Or you can have a weekly hangout with your team and partners to disuss new strategies etc.

I have been on a few hangouts already and I must tell you… I love it!! Businesses that are using Google Hangouts are reporting a serious peak in leads and potential clients. I have even heard of doctors diagnosing clients through google hangouts, or having yoga classes through google hangouts. Some associates of mine have even found themselves fitness buddies and do their exercises together on a Hangouts. My girlfriend and I even sat through hypnotherapy sesson on a hangout. The possibilities are endless and this is only the beginning.

Another great feature is Communities… This allows you to connect with like minded people in similar or relevant fields of interest. Which also means the posts you get on your google+ home page will be relevant and of value to your interests and business. Which I love as it means I no longer have to sift through a bunch of posted content I really have no interest in… Like if Billy, friends with Marie-Sue bumped his toe on his garden gnome while cutting his lawn with a tweezer for example. I recently discovered that if you want to post to a community, then you can’t post to your circles… Which is quite interesting.

I am all thumbs up for anything that contributes to my freedom and time management skills and as Alex Mandossian says… Google first organised the world and now it is starting to engage with the world. With business being far more digital these days, it is the ones that engage with their clients that stand out from the 0′s and 1′s.

The more I am using Google+ the more benefits and features I am discovering which are really beneficial to my business for one, and second… I am saving so much more time with my marketing efforts while getting my message to the people that want to hear it. I actually post and interact more on Facebook and Twitter than I did before because of a tool that sends Google+ posts to my Facebook pages and Twitter accounts… Automatically. Google+ is relatively fresh out of it’s “testing phase” so expect a lot more to come. If you are business I highly advice getting on board and embracing Google+.

I will be revealing a lot more hints and tips and marketing strategies over the next few weeks so stay tuned, and get our your pens and paper. Please leave a comment and be sure to share.
