So, reinforcements had arrived. The invasion was complete. Reha was sure their next move would be to divide and then conquer - in that order. Isn't that what aggressors did, after all? It wouldn't take the brothers long to turn Kate against her, and then to rule through her, before she was overthrown completely, so to speak. Reha wondered when Kate would realise that these events, and the prospect of the power they brought with them, might lead her to betray Kore.
It was not Reha's public punishment the brothers wanted. They hadn't arrived with the police - for what evidence did they have, other than the testimony of a blind and crippled drunk!? No, it was the Estate they were after. Or at least that was Zack's motive and he thought he could take it with little resistance.
If they confronted her now, Reha would have no option but to capitulate immediately. At this point Reha wasn't sure she would even be willing to attempt the ceremony.
Returning to the comfort of her bed, Reha continued to think the situation through. In order to postpone their takeover, she would have to avoid a confrontation with the conspirators. She was the guilty one, not Kore. A trap had to be set to lull them into a false sense of security; that was what had to be done. Reha would invite the enemy in, and treat them as if they were already the victors. In the process their efforts would be thwarted. By admitting her sickness and announcing her retirement as matriarch, she could ensure that they would have no need to punish her for her sins, and she could arrange that the ceremony be held the day after the Halloween party.
