Total Articles: 113
Being humorous is not easy. It is even worse when making speeches. However, the use of humor is an integral part of captivating your audience and giving them a realization as to the value of public speaking. If you intend to dramatically increase your chances of conveying your point across to your audience may be made easy by the application of humor. Therefore, in line with this, how does a speaker achieve this?
In as much as humor incorporation into speeches can pose a big challenge, speakers should be happy with the good news presented to them here. It should be made clear though that this is not intended into making you a comedian by any means. The essence of all these is not to generate laugh from your audience at all times the way it is done by professional comedians. The plan here is simply to chip in Funny jokes here and there in order to put a smile on our audience’s faces and ensure that they pay attention at all times to whatever is being said. Otherwise if you make them laugh throughout your speech there are high chances that the actual points you are giving may not be taken at all. It’s acceptable to use a few jokes but not too much of it. The following are just a few of the tips as to how you can successfully achieve this.
• Sneak Up On Your Audience:
It is never a good idea to let everyone know that you are going to make a joke. This means that you should not stand before your audience and use words like, ‘let me tell you a joke.’ The element of surprise must be utilized tactically. People tend to laugh more at a joke they didn’t see coming as opposed to something that is too obvious. Sometimes you may just use ordinary Funny sayings but if brought out unexpectedly their effect is as if they are being said for the first time. However, if your inform your audience that you are about to crack a joke and what you do is to tell them what they have heard of before it turns out to be boring. Don’t let your audience predict what you are going to say.
• Make It Relevant:
Now! This is an aspect that some speakers don’t seem to realize. It is only common sense that you remain relevant throughout your speech. This includes the Funny quotes you put across. It would be quite illogical to come up with jokes that have no relationship with the content of your speech. In situations where you use such out-of-place jokes, you stand the unfortunate risk of creating more confusion among your audience rather than creating the intended humour. It won’t work. Your audience will tend to assume that the joke is actually part of your general speech. Some may even see you as either crazy or you are just trying to insult them.
• Never lie:
Speeches that seem to contain some truth in them are many at time seen to be more humorous that the imaginary ones. Try your best to use the true jokes.
