Shipping Industry Provides Good Job Scope

With about seven thousand and five hundred kilometers of coastline, ports and shipping is of prime importance in the Indian sub-continent. The maritime industry in the country include ports (Non-major and the major ones), inland water transport and shipping (coastal and overseas). This aids in the navigation of the manpower both on board and also on ashore. It has been found that about ninety five percent of the external merchandise trade is done by volume and only seventy percent is done by value. The transportation is done through maritime transport.

The maritime industry in India contributes more than 0.2 percent to the GDP of the country. The transport sector’s contribution has been growing continuously over the past couple of years. This is due to the increase in the economic activity in the country. There is an increasing trend among the Western countries to send the manufacturing sections to the low cost countries like India. This has increased the importance of India as an outsourcing hub for manufacturing and also increased the use of the maritime industry. This has also contributed immensely to the growth of the maritime industry in the country.

MBA in port and shipping is therefore of much interest to the people. Those individuals who want to make a name in this field had been looking for such degrees which will enable them to get good jobs and also enrich their knowledge considerably. MBA in port and shipping management therefore is of much importance to the people in the long run. Hence the growing demands for such courses among the people.

For getting admission in this course, an individual will go through a series of steps before he is actually selected for the course. An individual who has graduated with 50% marks can enroll for this course. Having done the graduation in science, commerce and in some related fields will be given more preference. One should have two years of work experience in this field is also a compulsory factor for getting admission in this course. The eligible candidates will be called for personal interviews. If the candidate is not able to make it to the venue then video or telephone interviews are also conducted. After this, the candidates will be given offer letters if they are selected.

The maximum time that an individual can take to complete the course is five years and the minimal time that one can take is three years. The course is divided into semesters and the examinations are conducted in the months of January and July.

CCE or Center for continuing education under the University of petroleum and energy studies has been contributing immensely to the development of the degree courses in this field. They have been developing such courses which will enable the people to understand the field in a better manner. Practical and theoretical aspects of the field have also been kept in mind by the people.
