Chevrolet Mylink Available With Apple's Siri
Total Articles: 1
The technologically savvy group will be impressed with Chevy’s latest attempt to keep up with vehicle technology. The 2014 model year promises to be a great one with new car enthusiast beaming about changes coming to many popular Chevy models: Apple's Siri system will now come standard. The high tech system is “eyes free” meaning a person can control it with their mouth and hands and never has to take their eyes off the road. Teaming up with Apple is a large step for the Chevy. Apple has always been a leader in technology and this new system will not only make road trips a breeze, but day to day commute will be easier as well.
What Is The Apple Siri System?
Most people know Apple’s products and their popularity. From the iPad to the iPhone, these products fly off the shelves and have people waiting in lengthy lines just to get the latest edition. Apple has made a bold move and branched into the automobile market. This is new territory for them, but if their past products and sales are any indications, this will be a huge investment opportunity for their company.
The Siri System is a virtual assistant. This service will team up with Chevy MyLink to provide easy services that are utilized by today’s drivers. These features include accessing your calendar, playing music, making calls and even dictation of messages. These means the active business person is can manage their clients, calendar and even make phone calls without ever removing eyes from the road. Bluetooth pairing will still be an option, done by pressing a button on the steering wheel. This system was created so that the driver never has to remove their eyes from the road.
Music enthusiasts will be happy to know that the popular iTunes will also be included on this assistant. There are more than 2.5 million customers who are currently using iTunes Pandora services, and Apple plans on allowing customers to continue to enjoy all the aspects of their services in a car operating system.
What Models Will Be Equipped?
Currently, only a few cars are equipped with this system: the Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Spark EV and the Chevrolet Sonic. In 2013, the market will expand and Chevy will put the Siri System on the Chevy Equinox SUV, the Chevy Volt, the sporty Chevy Camaro, Chevy Cruse and the ever-so-popular Chevy Malibu. While General Motors is the first car manufacturer to integrate this system into a few trial cars, it is anticipated that the following will be huge and soon all cars will come equipped with Apple’s Siri Services.
Making Room For Apple Siri
This system will replace current navigation systems and other popular features on the dash. Car manufacturers have always had to design the dash around functionality and looks, but with Apple involved, this system may dictate the looks of the car’s dash area. Systems have certain specifications and the dash needs to be designed for the system and not the system for the dash. Chevy hopes that putting such an amazing and user friendly system on their cars will be an attraction to boost sales. It certainly sounds alluring to the business personnel and those who are considered to be technological buffs.
This move will directly benefit Apple users and may encourage sales among that group. However, there are many people who care less about convenience and more about gas mileage and other features. Thankfully, Chevy models have the specs people are looking for and now they have one of the best virtual assistant programs around.
