Antique furniture is undoubtedly beautiful and has great value. However, due to its steep price, many people cannot afford it. Fortunately, you can still have them in its reproduced form. Replica furniture is very popular today because it imitates the original exactly. Beautifully designed, replicas are manufactured paying attention to small details. This makes them very popular.

Reproduction Furniture

If you want to create the ambience of yesteryears in your interiors, buy replica furniture. You can truly feel and experience the splendour of period furniture by opting for replicas. By calling them reproductions, it doesn’t mean that they are made of low-quality materials. On the contrary, much attention is paid to comprehensive carvings, the type of wood, enduring upholstery and clean edges. It’s no wonder there are so many who prefer this type to the genuine antique pieces which are not only ridiculously expensive but also not easily available. Reproductions, on the other hand, can be customised and so it’s not difficult to get them. Imagine your living room with mahogany showcases and chaise sofas! The ancient aura can be easily replicated in your entire home.

Georgian Period Furniture

Georgian furniture refers to the design styles that were popular in Britain in the 18th century. Although, it was named after George I, it was actually built on different styles and was popular until the time of George IV. That is why; it is also called the Neo-Classical and Regency style. The strong influences were Roman and Greek, French aristocratic trends and Gothic revival. It is distinguished by simple elegance and was uncluttered. Most of the pieces were refined and dainty. Dark wood was used especially mahogany, walnut, oak and maple. For fancy furniture, lacquering, wood inlays, gliding and marquetry were quite common. Typical pieces included winged armchairs, corner cupboards, chaise-longues, roll-up desks and bureaus, circular and side tables. Popular designers were Chippendale, Thomas Sheraton and George Hepplewhite.

The Classic English Furniture

People who love antiques would definitely fall in love with Georgian furniture as they are rare and timeless pieces. They are no doubt valuable pieces and its value will only increase because they are not easily accessible. Master craftsmen created furniture pieces with lavish details. Tables with marble on top and gilding were trendy. The designs were conservative and imposing patterns were seen. During the early Georgian era, the unique cricket table was popular; this had only three legs. Chippendale’s designs were fashionable during the mid Georgian era; he used imported wood such as mahogany and red walnut and was greatly influenced by the Rococo style of France. During the latter part of this period, the famous Adam brothers introduced lavish details and were influenced by Roman and Greek art. Ram’s heads, husks and feet were carved into the furniture pieces.
